Saving isn't the problem, loading is the problem. If you do that, you can't load the level afterwards, because JJ2 won't know where to find it. That said, I'm having trouble reproducing what you're describing, can you go into more detail?

Here are the steps, only works for vanilla levels:
Can't save and load the level:
1. Go to your cache folder
2. Select the level, you can't save.
Can save and load the level:
1. Favorite a level from your cache folder
2. Use find and type gibberish to prompt the "No User levels available"
3. The next screen returns you to the list. Regardless of which folder the level was originally favorited from, it now appears on top of the list.
4. Select the level and you can save and load now.
Two underlying issues here:
1. Unrelated to the find option, favorites are only moved moved to the top after using the sort button or after searching. Both sorting options always keeps them at the top, the only way to reset them back into the numerical alphabetical list is by exiting HCH. Preferably there should be clear option to sort or filter by favorites included. I like my favorites at the top. The fact that sorting by levelname/filename atm does this is not logical.
2. Using the Find feature, not finding levels and returning after "No User levels available" should not give a weird amalgamation list of results from multiple folders, instead should just return to the last folder you were prompting the search in. It messes with the total count and I have no idea why: my main folder had 40 levels, my cache has 96 levels, returning after the "no User levels available" gave me 93 levels.
