I personally talked to him over ICQ. He claims that the person that talked to Shadow about the merge and talked to Gummi about the merge (and denied the truth) wasn't him. Yes, by the way, this was on MSN apparently that it took place. Here's a log from the conversation I had with him a few minutes ago:
