the main thing that bothers people about shields is that the person using it can't lose health, not the special ammo. even when i played online the very first time as an absolute newbie, i was able to murder about everyone in the server by using the shield. nowadays, i don't really like shields. the invulnerability they give is too powerful. it would be ok if shields just reduced damage and didn't last so long. but, since it's not like that, i never host, and never will host, a level with a shield (except if other people want me to host a duel for them)
