I think the fire shiled is actually kind of sucky if you already have a blaster powerup. It only does 1 damage and cannot fire up. The plasma shield also sucks if you have a blaster powerup (due to not firing up), but at least it does 2 damage.

The water shield though, *is* cheap. It does 2 damage and basically kills everything in front of you. It is the ultimate weapon.
