Shields galore
Hmm, shields.
(This is like a bad or disjointed article rather than a post)
In multiplayer, shields have always been viewed as devilish and players eventually have grown to stop in their tracks in they hit one accidently, and even ask others to help them lose it. The most frequent Diamondus Warzone is found with the shield erased - but of course the plain sight rocket powerup intact.
It's easy to waste someone's shield and although the shots are continuous and doubly powerful, they move mostly straight forward. Anyone can use them back if they want but usually won't want to because they offer some disadvantages.
In single player i'm sure everyone uses them to their heart's content which leads me to believe the game designers intended for the shields to be mainly for single player use, but of course having no issues with their use in multiplayer.
So why are they the butt of so much dislike?
(The story of shields)
Many of the earlier or whatever garbage you want to call them, players, who were also younger at the time, were with those who decided shields were cheap and the staple of immature incoming players. If you see them now, it's still their habit and they won't be using a shield unless by mistake. The original camping was with shields - of course frequently in the diamondus capture level, sitting down in the corner and recollecting the shield and raising hell/heck (forgot if this filters) with it either right there or running into the fray somewhere else until it ran out. No one was going to like that, so it was learned that shields were not to be used! In this way it came that only the new players (who didn't know) were the ones who would use the shields, often obsessively for fun or survival. A new perk against shields was of course the kick feature with the jazz2 patch allowing the server to kick or ban players who decided to use a shield in their game (This was silly). So eventually along with learning how to talk and use regedit, and how to speed up and how little people use treasure hunt or play splitscreen over the internet, a piece of knowledge was that shields are rotten to the core.
Today it seems to be the same process although possibly easier not to pick up a shield in the first place, of course with edited Diamondus Warzone and most multiplayer levels possibly ridden with easy powerups but no shields out in the open.
In respect to that, I don't use shields because you really can't, but they aren't so effective anyways (which means they aren't cheap after all that we've made them) they'll often make you a target for that time or you'll be expected to sit still.
Shield points of interest:
Someone must not know this junk -
As assorted things in Jazz 2 have relations with the genesis Sonic series, the new shields, completely different (And worse) from the two in original Jazz, are probably based on the water, fire, and lightning shields in the third revisiting of Sonic.
This is even less helpful - the fire shield is the only one that was in both games, although in the first Jazz it's only firey because it's red.
Stuff is good
