In 1999 gpw had 55 or 59 members. I know cuz thats when I joined. It was also the time when we started cleaning up the books, so to speak, and the inactive members were taken off the list.

Happened again a few years later. In 2001 or 2002 or something people were kicked for being inactive or not making a certain age cut (like me). I blame GoldBones... but he was probably right since it was still bulky back then.
