I dropped the crystal back on the ground, and the spike immediately retracted back to wherever it had originally come from. Though I was now horribly wounded and in too much pain to even stand properly, I decided to try out another plan, just for the heck of it. I now attempted to roll the crystal out of the room, but the moment I tried to push it toward the door another ice-cold spike shot up and impaled me again. I'm pretty sure it hit some major organ, because the blood pouring out of me was black this time instead of the usual red.
As my life flashed before my eyes, I realized I was having "one of those days."
