Hey. I just got this nice, big monitor (finally got rid of the 13"). I tried all kinds of resolutions and now found one I'm happy with (1280×960). Then, I tried changing some skins of the JCF.

With the standard skin, I get a normally wide page. With the high-res skin, the page is all cramped. I would have expected something to make it fit BETTER in the browser window.

Now of course, I don't know much about computers, technology and stuff, so I'll just ask up straight:

Was this intentional for this high-res skin and am I completely wrong or is there actually something not right about it?

Grtz me.

The Firenze, High Resolutions and ~ WIDESCREEN SPECIAL EDITION ~ themes were all created specifically for resolutions like yours and use 75% of the screen width instead of 100% (80% for Firenze I believe). I don't really understand why you find them look cramped, because making it wider would make the difference with the standard 100%-width themes rather marginal.

User experience and scientific research indicated that at horizontal resolutions of 1280 and such a 100% wide page does not make reading the page a very pleasant experience. Therefore the themes for higher resolutions generally reduce page width so not to make lines too long. If you disagree with this principle, feel free to use the normal themes

I'd suggest you try them for a while, it takes some time to get used to.

Really? *checks* Well I dunno, I use Alternative Logo and everything looks okay with (my usual) 1440x900 and 1280×960.. Maybe you just have to get used to it. And yes, the "Theme for high resolution" sucks. ~WIDESCREEN SPECIAL EDITION~ is somewhere between normal and high res, but what is so wrong with the normal one?

Well, that clears up a lot, thanks.

I was almost afraid I was getting narrow-minded! Haha. Get it? *is tomatoed*
