PSM music format

As in the JJ1 music files.

Does anyone have any idea at all how his format works? How similar is it to s3m or the Protracker Studio Module? I know *someone* out there knows it, because they emailed me a new tune, and now I'm all curious.

I think PSM is just some compressed version of the Protracker module format.

No, it looks to be qualitatively different; I know the PSM-16 format, and there are similarities between the two types, but definitely differences also; from what I've been able to find online, while many PSM formats (The musical ones) are known, and indeed known quite well, Jazz music is always referred to as 'Epic games data file' or some such.

I have been told that PSM is just s3m with 4 channels, is this true?
