Anniversary Bash VII

"Any volunteers who'd like to put together the level packs for Jazz2's seventh birthday? Or people who'd like to host the servers? Please apply here and we'll contact you."

(I would like to organize the packs again, it was really fun to do that last year. )

I'll agree with any Bash Organizer, as long as:
- The compiler is neutral (does not only pick levels from certain countries or levelgroups)
- The compiler ONLY picks levels from the past JJ2 Year (which means, from April 2004 to April 2005)

I think R3ptile would be pretty good in this job because I was quite satisfied with last year's Bash.

I like this idea. Too many bashes have had levels like DW in BBLair which were made ages before the year we were celebrating.

(Or are we celebrating the year to come? In that case, we should only pick levels made in the year after the bash...)

I don't think including a few "traditional" favourites is so bad. The Anniversary Bash's are partly celebrating another year of Jazz, but they're also celebrating Jazz2 itself being released. But then again, I probably won't get to play much so whatever.

In my opinion, including the same old levels isn't needed. We got almost all of them in every bash except the sixth. Anyway, I'll be glad to create the packs again as I mentioned in my first post.

I expect Nimrod to host the dedicated server again, and I also hope that Shadow will bring that Anniversary Bash radio, that was really awesome. ;P

Must agree with Chip and with the bash-radio. Just don't pick too much of the old favourites. They're overhosted and anyone who doesn't like the coming ab7-pack, may host his/her favorites him/herself.
Didn't even get why was dw put into ab5...Everyone has that level and just a fix of border and shield-removing doesn't make it that much better, imo.

So, I guess Rep should be let to organize this one as well. Last one was quite well done, although elmsjgca for example wasn't from that year and shouldn't have been in it. Avoid these.

Removing shield from DW is like deleting carrot on Just Got Carrot Away IMO.

@Snow
The annual Anniversary Bash, is being hosted every year on anniversary of release of JJ2's demo, which is April 7th. There are levelpacks supposed to be hosted, and someone (like R3p did yesteryear) must manage the levelpacks' progressing. And here we go again...

Yay, a topic about AB7 already. I don't want to make the packs - I am probably too biased and include some of my levels. I think I have a great chance to have a level in the pack. =D If I won't get some level in, I am unhappy.
And btw, that radio really rocked, although I haven't heard alot last year. I agree with Chip's ideas as well. This gives me about 99% chance to get a level in.

Some old lvls that were pretty good but not in any ABs should be put in this year's AB unless a decision is made that prevents it. I'm ok with pretty much any decent lvl in the AB pack unless they've already been in previous packs. Btw, I'll help you guys to pack!!

What would fit better with a AB7 pack than levels of the Packy Pack? =D.
Or something else... I'm quite sure XLM has some levels in.

I'd be very willing to create the packs this year. I understand what the oldies as well as the more recently involved players want. I would balance the packs with classic levels as well as newer, high quality levels.

I would say try to have a new pack creator every year. Last bash pack was by Blackraptor (JJ1 bash), bash before by R3ptile. Before that it was Newspaz AFAIK. All were well created btw, you guys rock. You could also see if various people (who are good in communicating with eachother) working together to compile the levels list works. Then one person could create the actual pack.

I really enjoyed Bash Radio last year, I listened to it for hours =P.

(BlurredD and Trafton go by unnoticed for their AB contributions)

Just as well, since I didn't have enough time to fix the level selection for AB5. There were a few requests to include classic levels, so I submitted. That's when I came up with the idea that if classics are going to be included, it can't be the same ones used before in other AB pack.

I heard that Blur and Evilmike organized ab5 together? So, should we have multiple organizers this year also. Something from 2 to 4 organizers could think very well how they like of some levels together and then one of them would just make the pack from a preplanned list. That might be a better idea than a single organizer instead, so we would make more people glad who are willing to help in the pack-making.

By the way Rep, you once said that "The Tides of Marsh", which I originally finished for a jdc-event that early, would be surely in ab7. Hehe, so if you get to organize this pack, remember to put in that level at least, as it wasn't accepted to the jdc-event after all then, due to I was too late or something. Blah, I just always miss important things here at jazz2-community. Ok, I'm not forcing you to that but at least think about it, if you'll be an organizer. Filename was: "sjmarshb.j2l" It was a battle-level btw. And likely have a look of my other levels.

And then some other levels than mine, that I would recommend to be in ab7. Some of them might already have been nominated, but whatever:

Battle levels:
-Garden Brawl by FireSworD
-Tube Dreams by Snooze
-Tall Towers by EvilMonkey
-Toasted Territory by Satan
-Evilmike's Evil Fortress by Evilmike

CTF levels:
-X-Station by DarkSonic
-Mort Myre by Labratkid
-Deserted Paradise by Snooze
-Divide And Conquer by BlurredD
-Ragnarok's Stronghold by Ragnarok
-Sanctuary by CelL
-Apocalyptic Afterworld by Magoo
-Clipboard Chaos by Snooze
-Lemon Nightmare by Blackraptor
-Wonderfull Waterfalls by Satan

As you see, it's a lot easier to find decent ctf-levels than decent battle-levels. Battle-levels just aren't that interesting to make or there it's harder to make them more original, or such. There might have been more of decent levels at the jj2-community finished or uploaded, so those ones were just some good examples.

I guess you others could nominate some examples if you also know levels you like and which would fit ab7.

Nah, that would be evil and insulting. Just let the AB7 organizers decide (whoever they are).

Picking the same overplayed levels would be really boring since they were put in every bash so far except the sixth one. I think that only the best levels from April 2004 to April 2005 should be put, but that's only my opinion.

Sorry, but I simply cannot agree. People who did such a good job in prior Anniversary Bashes and want to do that again so badly really deserve it. For example, Nimrod is arguably the best host we're able to get and that's why he deserves to host the AB again. Anyway, that's only my opinion (as I mentioned before) and there will be always people who disagree.

Well, there are still some CTF/Battle levels I don't see in your list and are quite good imo, SJ. And some levels no-one posted about... example :

CTF levels:

Technodus Cargo Station by Ragnarok
Winter Melody by CelL
Sacrifice by CelL
Twisted Winds/Haunted Castle/Lord Lemon (at least one of them, because imo they're the best of the pack SuperJazz)
X-Station is a good level, but maybe too small. I think I prefer Street Pass no. 1 over that, if there is going to be a level by me in.
Anarchy Inn. Or was it in the last bash?
This level is... Cold! COLD!!!! by EvilMike
Merry Hypothermia by Enigma

Battle levels :

Ragnarok's Fortress by Ragnarok
Abandoned Robotics Factory by FireSworD
Decrepit Ruins by LRK.
I think these are my ideas.

And yes, Chip, any level by you would be good =P

Btw, could someone send Divide And Conquer?

Did you read that? I mean, that I actually just randomly chose some good examples, not that they're the only ones. "What is this?", was also a good one indeed, but I just didn't strangely find it from the battle-levels list. Oh, and I was too lazy to look at the TSF-ones, although there even wasn't many which would have had a high rating.

But probably TSF ones shouldn't be count because the server in ab7 should be changing all the time if there was 1.23 and 1.24 levels mixed.

Yeah, and I do not have TSF =O
And btw, when I look at the serverlists on J2O and click on a TSF server to see who are in it, I notice that almost no-one of it is in a clan.

CTF :

Demonic Home - Satan
Clipboard Chaos - Snooze
Lemon Nightmare - Blackraptor
25000 miles above the Earth - Satan
African Lowlands - Snooze
X Station - Darksonic
Bay of Diamonds - ChippieBW
Twisted Winds - SuperJazz
DarkSonic's Fortress - Darksonic
Ragnarok's Stronghold - Ragnarok
Efil Castle wid Waterz lols - ChippieBW
Divide and Conquer - BlurredD
Merry Hypothermia - Enigma
One spot - FireSworD
Surreal Landscapes - FireSworD
Sacrifice - CelL
Pie rocks! - Satan

That is 20 I can think of.. Now for Battle:

Jagged EctoPlasm - Labratkid
Forgotten Castle - Snooze
EvilMike's Evil Fortress - Evilmike
Abandoned Robots Factory - FireSworD
Cold Cavern - UrJazz and BlackRaptor
Ragnarok's Fortress - Ragnarok
Decrepit Ruins - LabRatKid
Golradir - CMDR Cats
Garden Brawl - FireSworD

Good choices, but unfortuantely lots of these level were made the previous year and already have been in another bash. About The Lion Sleeps Tonight, I disreccomend this level for Bash because it's too small.
