Thumbs up Jazz VS Sonic - yay, we can move!

I have spent some time on Jazz VS Sonic (gah, the level I'm making for DD now is quite boring to make...) and I have made the walking animations for Jazz and Sonic and title screen (without menu for now), you can see them in these links (but I still think I made a screen capture of walking in bad moment):

At school when I try to click on those, it says I'm trying to access pr0n.

Now this Jazz vs Sonic game is sounding a little 'different'.

Cool beans, dude. I wanna test too! lol. anyways, this will be a really cool game. You know, Sonic was originaly supposed to be a rabbit, his ears would fly back to show how fast he was going. ironic huh? Dude, you should have a mini-game or something where they race. Or mabey just a cinimatics clip or something, that'd be sweet. anyways, looks good, good work.

What am I talking about?

50% fighting game, 50% racing game, they're running WHILE they're FIGHTING!!!!

You know, like the racing bonus game in Earthworm Jim where whenever Psycrow comes too close to you you can ram him to slow him down... Or like in Caveman Uglimpics where you can grab you opponet and throw them behind you...

That's actually not a bad idea, Batty. If I knew what the frezl I was doing, I might actually do a JJ2 level based on that concept.

Battle-Race. Who woulda thunk.

Actually, then again, that's really what Race (JJ2) is all about. Get to the finish first, and try to make sure your opponent(s) don't make it to the finish at all.

UbiSoft made a 50% fighting 50% racing game called Rayman Arena. Not exactly a title of epic proportions, but it is crazy fun with over 2 human players. Wal Mart sold it for 15 dollars when I got it.... the PS2 multitap, however costed a whole lot more. Sony brand devices are pricey.

This new idea sounds nice, but it is good to keep in mind that if new features are constantly being thought up, the project may become too big, and/or never be finished. Keeping a limited scope (size of the project) can be a virtue.

Is net play going to be a factor in this project? I don't know much about that. I figure it would be difficult to implament.

Oh yeah, and what game engine are you using? Did you code it yourself or use a game creation package?

Making in an MMOG shouldnt be to hard. A buddy of mine did it with his game (which didnt last long), but now he serves a game called Ultima Online. Just host it with your PC, if you've got a good one with better than Dial Up.

Race-Battle, not to shabby, but everyone knows that Jazz would win. All that he'd have to do is shoot Sonic, and he'd be out. pfft, just stick to regular racing minigame, it would be much cooler.

But, mabey you could add Spaz & Tails in the mix too... mabey just on the side rooting their buddies on. But Hare is right, we should stop adding new ideas, so Im gonna stop.

Generally every base gametype (excluding Co-Op, of course ) involves Battle.

Battle: Durr.

Race: Shoot people to slow them down.

Treasure Hunt: Shoot people to make them relinquish their gems.

CTF: Shoot people to make them relinquish your flag.

Then again, that's the whole concept of JJ2. Run and gun. Easy enough...

Unlocking stuff always makes game more interesting, so I thought about that.

What I managed to think of, are two secret characters (one Jazzy, one Sonicy) and two mini-games ("Devan VS Eggman" and "Flight to Carrotus"). I think that I'll make some singleplayer so at the end you'll see the outro (intro will be for sure) and after that, a cheat to write in the character choice menu. I'm still not sure about singleplayer, because then AI would be pathetic. It would on depend on reactions "what if..." and some random values.

I'll try to remember that. BTW, I made jumping animations for both Jazz & Sonic, falling animations too. And ducking animation for Jazz (duck rabbit, duck).

Ah, but making a game takes much more than sprites. If you want, I can give you the files used on some of my old JJ2 fangames, but you need to know how to use GameMaker.

Even if so, I don't want to use them. I rather like to draw fighters myself. This will make them bigger. Besides, how can you use them in a fighting game? Go make a game yourself. We'll see how high it will be rated. If it will be ever completed...

And I won 1st place in shooting contest. In real-life of course.

I know this is a mild topic revival, but I couldn't resist the urge to pound on Master Cheater some more.

That sprite sheet of yours is lacking a whole bunch of sprites. Such as pole-swinging, the spring spiral, buttstomping, medium running, fly and shoot, helicopter and shoot, charge-run, duck and shoot, run and shoot, all of the idle animations, two thirds of the uppercut animation, the transition for ducking to uppercut, about three-quarters of both the rising and falling animation, rising and falling sideways, rolling up into a ball (speed-jumping), hanging off a vine, hanging off a vine and shooting, vine-crossing, vine-swinging, and landing a jump.

My suggestion is to get a full, comprehensive sprite sheet before even considering making a game with it.


Oh, and by the way... what good would a saber be against a cluster of white-hot, jagged metal?

My suggestion is to get a full, comprehensive sprite sheet before even considering making a game with it.
