Overview

J2MC is inviting JCS'ers to design and create the levels that will be played at J2MC Season 2 CTF 1 on 1 on July.

Rules:

1. Levels must be made in 1.23.
2. Only CTF levels will be accepted.
3. All level sizes and tilesets are permitted (as long as they don't have an annoying palette).
4. Levels must be newly created for J2MC. Any level found previously published will be disqualified.
5. Levels must be created by you. Modifications will not be allowed.
6. Maximum one sumbission per person.
7. J2MC reserves the right to make minor modifications to final level selections.

Tips:

1. We're generally looking for strategical levels, which are also not campy, very action-paced and quite balanced. BBLAIR is the perfect example.
2. Focus on gameplay. We want levels that are a lot of fun to play and suitable for competitive playing, not ones worthy of the Louvre (this still doesn't mean your level should look bad).
3. Your level doesn't have to be extremely original. It could just be very good.

Selection Process:

1. The first round of selection will be conducted by me.
2. The final round of selection will be conducted by me together with feedback from well-known players, level makers, and tourney admins.
3. Three levels will be chosen for use in J2MC Season 2 CTF 1 on 1.

I'll be in I.. guess. So it's for 1 on 1? Then it doesn't have to be that big. I might have trouble with the deadline but I hope I'll finish a level before it.

Why did I have to be almost finished a 2v2 map?
Might be able to make it smaller or more suited for 1v1 somehow though.

Trying to be in. If I get it finished before the deadline, yay. If I don't, I'll just release it on j2o as a regular level.

hmm all the tournaments suck, it always eats my entire free time and it's always aborted because of some foobs. And 1on1 sucks, in addition.

Your level doesn't neccessarily have to be as small as Dx. Actually, I prefer a lot bigger levels.

Anyway.. I started making a level. It will be quite big, about as big as SBv2.. I guess.

I try to keep my serious levels in deveolpment to perfect them as much as possible before betatesting. Add this with the fact I sometimes lose intrest in certain projects for while, and there's a recipie for levels never being released.
The fact I don't like you means you personally have never seen any of my WIPs which I occasionally send around.

The most serious levels that I ever released were for the little-known ABSP pack, these levels were horrendusly rushed, but at least the Heaven level isn't complete crap.

Well, making a level like this for a contest isn't something I call serious. Anyway, the SP levels are the only levels that were serious on J2O. The other levels were just jokes, or something. But I don't understand why you do that.. I mean, you could make a serious level for this contest instead of a level like this. I guess you'll make serious levels somewhere in the future, but if the SP levels were serious then my point was not true.. as you HAVE made serious levels.

Back to topic: I don't understand that some people have already finished their levels. Or the levels were made before the contest started, or they just rushed to make them.

I agree, I did not like this "joke" because its a wast of space.. Levels like this is sure one of the thinks that leads us to the "5 pro month" limiet.

And I never said this level was serious. I was answering the question "Do you ever make serious levels". Of course the entry was joke, people. Don't make me question your mental stabilty. Even r3p, the dude who's running the contest, saw this entry was a joke and treated it as such. I'm starting to get the feeling that very few level makers have a sense of humor anymore.

Finally, the "JCS User's guide to bad levels" was probably the most useful thing I've ever made for the community, and yet everyone bashed the hell out of it. Looks like I'm the only one who's tired of the same poor production cliches in single player packs.
