Little IE problem..

I have a little problem. It started today. When I click on a link wich opens in a new window, or I right click a link and click 'open in new window' it opens a window, but won't load the page. Only when I click the stop button and reload it.
So that's quite annoying. (I hope you get the problem)

I use:
Internet Explorer 6
on Windows 98

Thanks in advantage.

The future of Jazz relies entirely on your ability to open links in new windows.

I installed JCS94, but don't seem to have that problem.

Bobby and Blurred and Radium, what OS do you use? It might be Win98-specific or something.

The only way for JCS94 to do something like this would be to replace a shared file with a different version that does something incorrectly.

There's an install log in the JCS94 directory, called ST6UNST.LOG. Could you maybe post all the entries in it pertaining to system files or shared files?

Maybe it has something to do with letting it replace my system files...

This problem has never been encountered because the JCS 94 group doesn't own Windows 98 (at least I never heard anyone complain, so I assume this is true). I own Windows XP. The problem may stem from the installation, which has been removed from the current version. The files from the new version are mostly the same except there is no installation file for people to slip up on. This will be looked into, but, in all honesty, JCS 94 can't harm your system unless you try and feed it a file that's not a level or a tileset (the former possibility is removed in the upcoming version). If the installation caused problems, I'm sorry for that. The matter will be looked into.

Ever notice that XP looks like a face laughing at you sticking his tounge out? I think they had that in mind when they named it.

Yes, Rad. It's used as a smilie subfrequently.

IE sucks anyway. Download Opera now, or else... you will be forced to live with that bug *forever*. :P XP

EDIT: Smilie change.

My computer has also been freezing up frequently (for about three seconds, then it starts moving again) since I got JCS94, but that probably has nothing to do with it.

Pah. If JCS94 caused problems with 98, I think I would know about it. Just trade in your Internet Explorer for something better.

Have any of you who have this problem tried re-installing IE?

Well it does causes problems, and apparently you don't know about it. And no, I won't trade in my IE for something else because of one program messing it up.

And yes, I have reinstalled IE, but it still has the bug..

It is due to a bug in the Visual Basic runtimes that come with JCS 94. Try uninstalling them.

Hope this helps.

I found a solution!

I'll paste the most important information from the website I got it from. http://www.experts-exchange.com/Oper..._20321481.html
Quote:
I was having two problems with IE6:

1- "Error: 35 Incompatible Version of the RPC Stub" when doing a ctrl-F (Find on this Page)
2- The '"Open in New Window" makes a blank page' problem discussed in this thread.

Both of these problems were fixed when I installed an older version of oleaut32.dll

It might be easiest for novice users to download and run this patch which overwrites the faulty dll. That way, you needn't bother with switching to DOS mode, etc.

http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...S/mcrepair.EXE
After finding that the find function didn't work either it was easy to search on that error. Be sure that you install the version of oleaut32.dll that is in the file.
