Ditto cooba. I'll always be a little perplexed by guns that aren't enormous blue crayons, but this looks very meticulous and it's great you're putting so much thought into it.

LFG-2000 replica AEG Project - Part 2 : Making a body and test firing

First of all, I cut the useless part - carring handle, Bolt foward asist, etc.. - from the main body.

After cutting..
hmm.. awesome!.. but..

nah.. fucking bolt catch!..
this is also useless part, but it's to hard to cut it with saw. so I use another tool with crazy idea..

!..

Yes. cutter with candle.
hot-cutter can cut the plastic very easily.
(environmental hormones are so aweso..)

After cutting.
good.. so now I can paste the main body on here.

I always use the formax for making another hand-made guns or any reflicas
(I'll post about that next time but not now )

...

beh..
making a round surface(for LFG2000) is really hard and.. required a lot of efforts and times..
but anyway..

Ugh.. I finally I did it. (oh my hands.. )
but sadly, I should to do it again more than 4 times..(upper body, hand guard, aaaand other side..)

Well also I did it.. (one of my hand is gone..(?))

As I did, I will fill it up with cerakote to all of that gaps.
(maybe next time!..)

And.. assembling the barrel..
So, basic work of project is almost done.
Now just making another bodies and decorations is left.(that would be very horribly hard work.. ugh..)

Last, this is the test firing video.

DRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! HELL YEAH!

you can find the difference of burst rate if you compare with previous project.

That's all.

Next part, I'll be back with a good news!
Thanks for watching, and have a nice day!

The new model looks awesome

The velocity limit you mentioned is really low. Is that limit only for younger players, or does it effect everyone?

I don't get it a bit..?

velocity limit?..

hmm.. you mean burst rate? if so, previous project is for boys. so it have a very low burst rate.

Sorry, I meant the .14j limit.

The rate of fire on the new blaster sounds great.

Ah, you mean the power(Power=Velocity).

Yes. in korea, 0.14J is the limit for boys(14 or over).
and.. this gun is for adults(older than 20). so velocity limit is set to 0.2J.(..slightly different but I couldn't find the difference it never hurt.. - in Japan, Taiwan, US(some states), Maximum limit is 1.0J. damn.. and even, I heard that Hong-kong and China is doesn't have any limits of that.)

But anyway, there is no limits of the fire rate. that's enough.
I hope that I can finish it on time.

Wow, I didnt know the limits were so strict in some countries & states!

And the rate of fire sure makes up for lack of power. Love the 'racking' sound your latest addition makes!

I'm not entirely sure what the legal limit is where I live. The airsoft fields here mostly use these limits:

Indoors/Close quarters - 1.14j
Outdoors - 1.49j

With the higher velocity, there are rules limiting how close you can shoot someone. If someone is too close, you have to say "safety" or "bang" instead of shooting.

I'm very new to airsoft, so this is stuff I've been discovering recently.

Wow, your state is really free about limits!
looks like oregon have no limits about it.

but just my guess, your state which you live may have another limits.
such as..

Yes, colorpart.
maybe you should to spray on your gun parts with orange paint.(or any other colors - except black, grey, dark colors)

For my experience, I was called from police as due to 'unclear color part'. there were no serious problems, but that was so close! worst of my life ever!

P.S.
to tell the truth, Korean police always take away guns from us(manias) 'Unconditionally'. even though, we did not violate the law.
perhaps they're slave of results, I think.
also in korea, peoples always think airsoft is pejorative hobby. it's hurts my feeling.

beh.. I'd like to finish this project rather than confused about this weird fact..

That shirt is great! I was inspired as well and bought some fabric paint while I was at the store today.

It lays down thick and dries into a rubbery solid. I might use it to make some morale patches and personalize some stuff.

Arts and crafts, yo!

***edit***
I just found out this stuff comes in matte and glossy varieties. I think the glossy "slick" type was the only one my local Walmart carried. Eh, I prefer matte but this will do.

They also sell tubes of glow in the dark paint. I've been applying it to my iron sights so I can still aim in the dark .

Haha! nice idea! (I want to try it long ago with tracer bullet(Marui) instead that paint, but I couldn't buy it. too expensive..)
I hope you can make it!

LFG-2000 replica AEG Project - Part 2-1 : Making a body(still!..) and test firing

I attach one more body plate to the main body(for improving the durability)and reinforced it with ceracot.
Although, it was required a lot of time, but it'd be durable rather than before.

And.. some of edges that which hard to grind it with only sandpaper, I always use this.

the Grinder.
it looks nothing, but this is awesome tools to grind or cut something.
it spin the blade more than 2000rpm.

(image of example )

After that, I made the lower handguard. this will used to contain the battery.

(example of assembling )

and battery will contained like that.
it use much small battery than before.

I cut the bottle for making the muzzle.(C*ca C*la!)

And the result is....

looks not bad!
and nobody will don't know it was maded with bottl..

look at these rifling grooves I love it!

bottom of muzzle.(cap is inside) yeah, it can be assembled to the lower handguard like a common bottle cap.
(I'll show you later why I separate them like that.)

(example of assembling )

And this is the total progress of now

heh.. now upper bodies are just left!

oh and.. let's check about the firing..
for some fun, I loaded some bullets.
about.. 10 rounds.

Louis K roasted Devan
Devan : Darn

LOL

thanks for watching, and I'll be back soon!

P.S.

Talk about the Scale..

According this data, The length of the relationship between Jazz's tall and LFG-2000 is this.

1.

2.

Hmm..? there are some tolerances?.. whatever..

So, we can guess length of guns is almost 90cm(87~94), and diameter is about 18cm(16~19).
But..

(scale units : cm)

Yeah. my project is much shorter about 30cm.(58cm)
It makes me a bit confusing.. if I make it to fit that size, it'll be really big or unbalanced.

Therefore, It's almost impossible to fit the actual size.
Because all of datas are not coincident, and their sizes are too big to make it.
so I can't modified about scale of this gun now. sorry.

also..

26 days are left. and I have to finish it in time.
well.. so I'll just go my way!

DON'T PISSING ME OFF! IDIOT DATAS !

also some wood, MDF, some plastic parts, griddle, even wooden chopsticks, Everything could be great material!

oh, and here is some of my works about 2 years ago.

You can't believe it, but it's also AEG, same material, and I sold it to someone(it was 'Made to Order' product. about.. 300,000won(=300 bucks) )

***EDIT***
I found somebody is talking about me and my project XD
LOL! I didn't know that! idk who is he exactly, but anyway I really appreciate to get interesting to me

and this is result.

Oh.. look at this beautiful edges. I love it♥
sorry

Assembling!..
non-sprayed parts(they aren't sprayed.. because they're metal parts) seems really neat and unique just my think.

now on progress of upper body.
umm.. still not finished maybe it'll be finished about 3 days later.

Hmm.. almost done.. almost..
oh and.. 20 days left!..

LFG-2000 replica AEG Project - Part 3-1 : 2nd Spraying and making some parts.

processing of upper cover is almost finished.
now I'll put some sights and spraying on it.

and I added some stiffener inside. it'll be helpful for reinforce this cover.

Sprayed to the handguard yesterday, and once again today. looks not so bad

Front of the upper cover.
that locking jaw is for fix the cover properly when assembling.

(Example of assembling)
looks so weak? don't worry. I was already checked durability of this.

Oh, I want to reuse the rear sight from previous model. So I try to dismantle it.. but..

So I made it..

Hehe.. much better that before

that is the ends of what I did yesterday, and now, this is what I did today.

I made a rear cap link.
basically, it is same as a common bottle cap. but it require some of technic

(Example of assembling)

and now I complete the cap and added some decoration parts(sling).

Assembilng!..looks almost finished!

Umm.. ok
First, I'm sorry for spaming like this..

main project is almost done. now gunbox and manuals are just left.

but one thing...
the manual's illustrations..

I already have a basic script for it, however I can't draw it with drawing programs(for example - photoshop) surely I have a program and I know how to use it, sadly!..I don't have tablet!!
Soooo..it is same as 'have a licence and car but don't have a carkey.' As you know.. drawing something with common mouse to computer is really hard

So! Anybody here who can help me? (I mean, anybody who have a tablet and do well of drawing?) Just simple - I'll send my drawings to you, and you just draw the outline of my drawings and send it to me again!

Are you interest about it, please reply this thread or send me a private message!

but yeah.. I also think anybody will never do it for me.. if so, that would be miracle. (sigh)

if nobody can help me.. then I should to draw it with pen&crayons as I always did so..(that would be seems like a kids fool joking..never seems as common manual illustrations..)

P.S. or is it just an excutive personal worry?.. but I want to draw it to high quality..

A graphics tablet doesn't magically give you good drawings. At least it didn't for me, as I do a lot of digital artwork with the mouse. The main reason I do is my tablet is unresponsive and I'd have to faff around with it to make it work (take out its insides and clean it).

Using something similar to the path tool in GIMP can give you excellent results with a mouse.

It also depends on how much of a perfectionist you are. I rarely draw but when I do I'm never fully satisfied with the result even though some people might like it.

Your pencil drawings seem perfect enough to me, like the one in your sig. Just show your manual illustrations when you feel comfortable with the result. I never doubt your skills as an illustratist even while using a mouse.

Sudden question - may I add the news on J2O when I finish this project?
I'd love to, but I think it seems some of self-proud spamming..(well as you know, AEG itself isn't related about Jazz Jackrabbit exactly.)

And if so, When I completed this project before July 30(maybe.. 28 or 29) which date is appropriate to upload except 30?
(because I don't want to be a distracters.. J2O will really busy about other events on that day, so if I post on same date, it'll very distracting..)

Any suggestions?

LFG-2000 replica AEG Project - Part 4 : Sketch the manuals illustrations.

Meh..

I printed the classic Epic logo on the sticker and scraped it and pasted it on the box.

Looks simple but something..
beh.. I don't have a good idea about it right now..

aaaaand.. one of example of the manual illustration.
scripts of each picture is this.

1. Do not aim or shoot this gun at a person, an animal or anything else you do not actually want to shoot at.

2. Use this gun with wearing special protective goggles or face mask in order to protect your eyes.

3. This gun is for adults(age of 18 or up). Keep out of the reach of the children.

4. Do not shoot at too short distance from the target or a hard surface or water or anything that could cause a bounce back or ricochet.

but that is just outline..
I really doubt about I can finish it in time.

What a hard work!..

@Louis K - If you scan your line art, you can get some decent results coloring it with just the mouse.

I made a quick and dirty mouse coloring tutorial: (this works best if you do your original sketches in colored pencil)

I love your Jazzed up versions of the illustrations from airsoft manuals .

Yup. this is based on X operation, and I changed some weapons skins to LFG-2000(Jazz's blue big gun!)

Next time, I'll change the persons skins to rabbit skins!(heheheh.. coming soon!)
and this is what I'm making now

Yeah.. person's main skin.(not textured yet)
it's not finished yet but almost done!

Oh, if I finish this project, I'll post about it to 'Further Game Development' with new thread(named Jazz Jackrabbit 3DX) and upload this game files to J2O!

P.S.

Of course, I'll more concentrate on to 1st project first, and then I'll making it again after July 30..
and absolutely, this project's progress will also very slow..sorry.(because I'm learning about making skins, maps, and objects now!)

Unhappy Manual illustration - 1st work

Well.. this is the first scaning.
only pen lines, and it seems too dirty..

And.. this is the first result.

not bad! (yay I love you magic wand! )

and add some shadow effect..

5 Hours later..

Hmm.. much better but..
it requires too many time!..(because my mouse is really stupid. my mouse can click 'automatically' over than 12 times in 1 sec. but I have only 3 days!.. but 11 illustrations are left!.. I can't draw it within time!..)

Meh.. just my guess, I can't finish this manual making within time if I draw like this. so.. I'll upload the reviews about my project without manuals.

so I'll upload about this later(when I finish it ).
But I'll upload about the project and video on here as the plan.

You could stick to plain line-art. All of the airsoft manuals I've seen were in black and white, so it should be ok.

Concerning the game design, what 3D modeling program do you use? Is that Blender, by chance?

yeah.. I know that almost manuals are printed to grayscale or black and white. so I was just want to something different.
but anyway.. it was too late to finish it within time now.
I'll try to finish it within next week and so on.

I know nothing about Blender, but I used Milkshape for modeling at this time.
Also, I can recommend to you Metasequoia for another 3D modeling program.
(according my experience.. metasequoia have more functions than milkshape, but it mean that is much complex to use it well.. the choice is yours. )

I know absolutely nothing about this type of project, but I'm blown away by the work you've posted here, Louis K. The gun is looking absolutely glorious, and even as someone with absolutely no relevant knowledge I can easily see you've spent a good amount of time working on making this thing perfect.

Keep up the excellent work!
