This thread is useless and redundant, because screenshots will get more attention in the episode's own thread.

Looks a bit confusing (what things are solid, which are in the background?) and the setting strongly reminds me of Invasion of Deserto. Other than that it's fine though.

I don't think it looks that bad, however, you won't get points for eyecandy just stolen from another level.

I know, no one knows me. I have just 1 upload on j2o . well, 2 actually, but the other
one is so bad, that.. . Anyways, im making episode called "The Secret of Bananatus"
I got 2 screens, it's not ready yet, and there is gonna be more levels in another
tilesets aswell..

I guess things like apples would fit better to Carrotus, but it's not that awful.

Other than that nice screenshots, even though the eyecandy is a bit standard (pretty much like in the official levels).

The pack doesnt look half bad.. Just a few bland areas for EC.. ;( Work at the levels

(Just in case anybody asks, I didn't release the first because it wasn't very good, and had no real storyline. The only storyline is explained in level 1.)

Zapper, most of the tilesets you used are extremely ugly and don't fit jj2 tbh, though the levels themselves don't look that bad :/

It's not the tilesets that matter. I could care less if they're a bunch of squigles. As long as the level works. And they do! Especially with the "Is it a dream? Where am I? What's going on?" and all that stuff. Pretty original bosses too. And Cooba, I want to see YOU make a better episode that's better in MY opinion.

Sorry to say, but R3p is right. You should focus on better eyecandy.

Okay, why does eyecandy matter so much??? I think Halo stinks compared to Jazz 2, yet you're flat out telling me that I should ditch this game, buy an Xbox, and play Halo instead!

Eyecandy matters because it causes people to not exit the level in 2 minutes because it's so boring. And how the hell are you comparing this!? The eyecandy sucks and you need to improve it. How does that compare to telling you to stop JJ2 and buy Halo?

No one's telling you to ditch anything. Nothing is keeping you from having both decent gameplay and eyecandy. It's not like levels with well done eyecandy play badly.

Now you only have to add good eyecandy and your episode will be ''played''.

You don't need eyecandy with good gameplay. It has been proven over and over again in gaming history.

As long as there are no black and white tilesets with black and white palettes, I'll play any game or, in this case, a JJ2 episode, with great gameplay and involving storyline.

Hear hear! Don't knock it if you haven't tried it, every ugly duckling can turn into a beautifull swan. Zapper may be using tilesets that look like they've been made with Paint, but that what gives it it's charm. Remember Biohazard's "Bilsy's Revenge?", which used tilesets that look the same?

The most important thing with eye-candy is not how good or bad it is: it's mostly how it stands out, how it's used in creative ways. You can fill a field with all kinds of flowers and trees or just leave it empty; neither stands out. One quick look at Violet's screenshots shows it: some tiles are used in a non-standard way, but they still look good; in a style unique to the author. It makes you think: "wow, why haven't I thought of that?", and thus makes it memorable. However, stand-alone eye-candy does nothing except draw your eye to the level, as a level's rating is mostly determined by the way it's played. A nice example is WACKO!!!, a puzzling maze using only standard one-tile blocks.

The fault here is that people think eye-candy equals gameplay. By standard eye candy is merely decoration, nothing else, unless the player can interact with it, like destroying it or hiding behind it; only then is it part of the gameplay. Want an example? Turn on low-detail on JJ2

I'm working on and off on my episode myself, focussing on the way it's played and not on how it looks (untill I actually finish all levels). Maybe when I have a nice area to capture I'll post some shots if there's enough demand.
