We've got over half the month to go. More wood can be added later if needed.
(bigger priority: slopes! normal looking slopes!)

There needs to be at least background trees. Like in beta JJ2 Jungle.

I don't really like that ramp. Eh, too tired to fix at the moment.

Another couple of changes. Down/up signs (versions that are attached to the side of a wall would also be intelligent, but I ran out of effort), blue forcefields, and another damaged cavetile for more variety in background.

Not too fond of that laser.. it's too solid and pillar looking. Try lightening it up like the original.

good, wraith.

Eh, too tired to do it. Someone else do... I was trying to conform to the lightning colors, but I guess that wasn't a good idea after all.

I mean I didn't know if Kansas was what you thought the name should be or just something you randomly chose for a filename. Sorry if what I said was misleading.

I prefer the yellow version over the blue one. It doesn't have to be blue since the other lightning tiles don't even look the same.

I really think those brown "wood" tiles could benefet from being a different colour. As they are now, they clash with the green "organic" tiles in a bad way. The mockups blur posted a few pages back demonstrate this.

I had a wooden raft/telephone pole log theme in mind when I first made those tiles, and I can't see it as anything else. However, the ambiguous nature of those tiles was part of the reason why it was not included in Windstorm Fortress.

I don't know... wood-like things and vine-like things should go together, but I guess all of the acid makes it lack any sense.

Send them to me and I'll upload them to chaos.foxmage.com for you.

And later today, I shall provide ye with background eyecandy!
Lessee.. there are 5, 6, 7 and 8... 8 is the sky ( duh ), 7 can be used for acid/water, so layers 5 and 6 are free for me to use for stuff sticking out of the liquid of choice. *nodnods*

Layer 8 doesn't have to be just for the sky (several Epic tilesets like Labrat and Inferno use alternatives), but it would be best if a textured background was added anyway. The more variety for the background tiles the better.

And here's an idea. Alternate versions? I think it would be great if one version had lava instead.

Edit: Fiendish Mike might have been right. Below are some different wood tiles. Compare to this.

It's unfinished as you can see.

Maybe make the color a little more powerful, but not as dark as before..? If it's not too much work.

That's not necessarily a good thing. Contrast is important as well. I guess you need a balance between the two... such an almost all green tileset is just ugly.

They were meant to be trigger scenery things that could be activated and deactivated. You can't both animate and make trigger scenery of stuff like that without using two/three layers for it.

Actually I reduced the lighting. I made some tentative changes:

And try this on for size (alternate version):

Hmm... the alternate version isn't too bad. It makes the forcefields and sword-in-stones look better.

Day and Night are such limiting names. Maybe some more longer the line of Apocalypse and Acidic, or Toasty and Corrosive.

It's an interesting concept although limiting, especially if it's going to use 3 layers. I think it would be a good idea to include traditional tubes as well.

Hrm... If you don't need the masks of the tiles to walk on, then it only takes 3 and 4, but if you need the masks, then yes, it takes 3, 4, and 5. It could be limiting, but no one seems to be making background eyecandy, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I'll make the normal tubes as well. I should have them done by tomarrow night.

A huge update:

Mostly rock and wood stuff as well as a multitude of minor fixes. I also might go on a shading frenzy so that the tiles fit in even more.

I should mention that the blue water tiles don't tile that well, so if someone decides to fix them keep that in mind. And I think the green vine-like tiles are holding the tileset back. Maybe they shouldn't have been used so much.

They probably are.

Oh, and why did you add the JJ1 arrows again? They don't fit whatsoever, expecially considering only the up and down versions have been added.
