JJGBA Now available in the Netherlands

Because JJGBA wasn't available in the Netherlands, only in the USA (AFAIK), I had to import my copy. For those who didn't notice: Jazz Jackrabbit for the GBA is now available in the Netherlands. It can be bought for €29,99 at the Intertoys shops. Aiko, maybe you could also get a pile of those to ditribute

I might just as well import it. As you can buy it for $10 in the US. Probably because it's such crap.

Games costs half the price in U.S. than Europe because of import prices and tax.
Example in Danish Kroner: 1 game USA = about 200kr. 1 game Europe/DK = 400-500kr. normally

It's more than half the price. It's about one third...... So it will still be cheaper.

I bought this game for 10$ when it came out, and it's not THAT bad...

True, it pretty much butchered what was left of the JJ franchise from the business standpoint by changing almost everything around, but it's still a pretty solid game, with some decent new weapons, music, and a single-pak 4 player multiplayer mode that's actually quite fun compared to the other crappy and/or boring after a short time single-pak multiplayer games on the market right now.

Also, the Castle tileset from JJ2 is used in a few levels

JJGBA= THE WORST JJ2 GAME!
It doesn't even feel like Jj2. Most of the tilesets are stolen, Devan is gone, Spaz is gone, Lori is gone, and (OMG!) NO INTERNET PLAY! Plus, The concept is just demented. Its like Star wars combined with JJ2 + Jazz becomes a hippy with stupid guns that look like crap. Sorry to be honest. ; )

You are forgetting the most important thing: The gameplay. Sure Jazz looks different. There are none of the old characters. But if you keep an open mind and don't compare it to the other Jazz games, it is a very fun game, although short and easy. Of course, your opinion could be different.

Besides, you should buy it anyway, because we're lucky that we have a new game at all. Opportunities are limited for an old franchise that historically has underachieved in terms of how many people buy it and having a small fan base, regardless of whether or not it is the fault of the companies that were supposed to promote it. If even the dedicated fans show that they are not interested in a new Jazz game, nobody will ever even consider making another game under the Jazz Jackrabbit game.

I think his point was that if JJA fails, then our chances of getting a better Jazz game in the future go down the toilet too. If the game does okay, then myabe we'll get a better one later.

Personally, I'm going to think of this as an alternate reinterpretation of the Jazz Jackrabbit concept, just like MegaMan has been restarted in so many forms. What does Jazz do? He runs fast and shoots stuff. So does Jazz in JJA. Think of it as a different Jazz in a new variation on the core concept (running really fast and shooting stuff). It doesn't claim to be Jazz Jackrabbit 3, after all, and it's not a bad game on its own. Megaman Legends, X, and Battle Network are good games too, and they're based around finding the right weapons to fight different enemies, even though they're not much like the classic Megaman games. As a hardcore Megaman/Rockman fan, I've come to accept and embrace this. Countless others have done the same. You've got the same deal with Contra (because of C Force and its sequels), and with Castlevania (Kid Dracula, Dracula X, Castlevania Adventure, Castlevania Legends, Castlevania^64). If Jazz fans can't do the same, it's going to be a very stale and bitter fandom after awhile.

Well, really the trick is that if they are basing the sales off JJGBA,
then they are probably going to make something similar to JJGBA.
If they base sales off JJ2, they are probably going to make a game similar to JJ2. So, basically, BOYCOTT JJGBA, BUY TONS-O-JJ2 AND ADVERTISE IT LIKE CRAZY! You see, we need to make it clear that we want our games the way they were in JJ2, and never to mess up again like they did in JJGBA. Otherwise they will probably mess up again. So, we need to advertise JJ2 and at the same time discourage sales of JJGBA. Thats my evil master plan!

I refuse to boycott JJA. If I had a GBA, I'd probably have it by now. Platform games survive by having something which puts them apart from all the others, and Jazz's main factor prior to JJA was having all the normal sidescroller stuff but doing it well. If getting an original gameplay for Jazz involves adding such things as believable weapons and actual enemy intelligence, so be it.

...now, if Jazz went 3D, that would be a different matter.

If Jazz went 3D as well as Sonic went 3D, I'd be all over it in a heartbeat. Sonic Adventure games are the best thing ever...

Anyway, big corporate types don't know one game in a series from another. They call the shots based on brand strength, not unique gameplay. Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA version) was a huge step away from Super Mario Bros. It had incredible sales, and the next game came out more like the original anyway. A complete lack of sales will just tell publishers what they already believe "Jazz JAckrabbit is dead." Period. No more Jazz games. Ever.

On the other hand, greater sales means more willingness to sell multiple sub-lines at once. Look at how Megaman is doing. We've got an upcoming re-release of ALL of the original series, the 7th game in the X series, a second game in the Megaman Zero series, and TWO VERSIONS of the third installment of Battle Network, plus a Battle Network game on GC, and a GBA release of Rockman & Forte. Sales of ANY of these strengthens the Megaman brand as a whole.

Hey stop this attacking of a game!!! Don't spoil others' opinion or decisions to buy Jazz Jackrabbit Advance.

I would buy it if I had a chance, that's because I'm a fan of Jazz Jackrabbit! I also bought Duke Nukem Advance, I really don't like it, but still because I'm a fan!
It's a game on its own and is not made by Epic! Jaleco Entertainment did this. Duke Nukem Advance is also not officially made by 3D Realms (well they confirmed it). Torus Games made that.

Talking

Acctually its a good game as I bought it (£20). I has nothing to do with the other Jazz games but I really enjoy the multipack games. If i were you I'd go out and buy it because it is fun and so what if it has blocks and stuff from the other Jazz games thats because IT IS JAZZ.

My prediction is this was Jazz when he was younger without a brother (hadnt been born) and when he was young and looking for a girlfriend but hadnt met Eva. Then he moved home to Carrotus and met Eva and Devan. So the games should go JJGBA , JJ1 , JJ2

Yay now we can all be happy !!!!!

I bought it to. It's worth the money. Hey and not all the old characters are lost, Spaz and Shell are still there. The games gameplay and graphics are great but the leveldesign is average and the game is to short I've already finished it.
