You should compare the bigger icon sizes to a smaller icon to show off the differences better.

I have to say, Jazz2's icon is much better larger. You just caused me to make the switch.
Fun note- My DevArt avatar is one of the larger icons for Batterycheck.

I'm going to see if there are any larger icons. Brb.

(Also, if you didn't get it, these icons are 48x48, while normal icons are 32x32. Jazz2 had larger icons built in. Intresting, eh?)

Edit: Checked, Jazz2 and JCS icons go up to the limit at 72. Even the built in icons for XP pixel out at that point.

I've known this for a while, but I can't find what program I used to see all of the icons a program has at one time.
I think it's called Resource explorer.

It really depends on what the icon developers provide for the icon file. You can incorporate any size icon you want. The XP developers just felt like they only needed to make the icon files go up to 48 x 48 because of the views XP uses.

You mean Resource Hacker?

Yeah, I think it's called that. Back when I regularly visited The Game Creators forums, there was a problem with icons being too big or having too much colors (Fixed now), and someone noted that they used Resource Hacker to change the icon. It's also been mentioned in the Clickteam community.

Standard icon sizes are 16x16, 32x32 and 48x48 with 16, 256 and 16.7 million colurs. At a minimum you have 16x16 and 32x32 @ 16 colours, usually you have the 256-colour version of those and the 48x48 size, and under XP and later you get the 16.7 million colour versions (as those do alpha transparency).

The 16x16 gets used as the window icon and when viewing as small icons, list or details, the 32x32 in the alt-tab list and when viewing as large icons, and the 48x48 when viewing as large icons (with large icons switched on in display properties), and in the tiles view.
