Jerry's given PE member support! Now RR members can join!
*edits first post about clan support*

And Gry? What? Do you get "U N K N O W N F I L E A D D R E S S" and then JJ2 crashes? Odd.

UNKNOWNNETWORKADDRESS users are usually ghosts. Kicking and/or banning them causes the game to crash. Anyone who actually cares an ounce about protecting their servers knows about them.

The first days were fun when renaming and ghost making was discovered and was totally new to jj2. If you hated somebody, all you had to do is spawn a ghost with the name "ban me" (or another offensive name) in their server and wait untill the host falls for the trap (which they usually did). Banning such "ghost" as we call them today does exactly what one would want it to do - it crashes the server.
Renaming was also fun as you could rename a friend of someone you hated to someone he hated and watch the flamewar start. While I can't say I did any of this, I have witnessed others (not telling names) do it many times.

To be honest my first rename was in theWINNER's server when I was still researching packets. I renamed him to a noname... by accident.

Lol.
It seems UNKNOWNFILE's NetMon spawns a ghost to player 32, and if you kick it, as Unknown puts it, 'Server goes b00m!'

I got some report of Unknown being the crasher from Nimrod too, I'll look into it yet I think it highly unlikely that Unknown crashes servers. He must of took it that his NetMon use was the crashing method ;P

The crasher is/was indeed UNKNOWNFILE. The crash packets were recorded and decoded and pointed to him. There you go, problem solved. Half the community knew this already, anyway.

I think it might have been useful if things were actually done to prevent "pests" other than screaming their heads off when a server got crashed. The real problem is that things like this are being created, and influencing these script kiddies to do things that cause them to get attention. Although there would still be crashes, nobody would be getting this much attention and causing pointless things like the Pest Eliminators to be created.

Besides, without any actual power over the list servers, the Pest Eliminators have nothing to go by. Having PE next to your name does not make anyone an omniscent diety capable of preventing crashes, exploits, and world domination. The list server administrators are doing a good enough job, in my opinion, with the policies they already have set.

The DoS one that you failed to do properly and it resulted in server crash rather than the actual DoS.

Haha that's not the real name of the console, haha. And people already know about GB because I made it public a while ago.

Well seem's this is public knowledge now, I might as well confirm.

Unknownfile is indeed one of the main crashers recently active in JJ2. His case is currently being reviewed by the List Server Team, and the outcome will be decided soon. The method of the crash is also being investigated by Overlord and Monolith so that a filter can be made to block it.

The IP the attack was launched from is: 24.42.35.73
Some of you may wish to add this to your block list, some may not. I will not add this IP to the network blocker as of yet, but it is tempting if UF continues.

It is also currently unknown if other crashers are active as well, or if every crash was done by Unknownfile. Matters will be investigated further. I will get back to you as soon as I know more.

And a personal message to Unknownfile, I am rather disappointed. You act like your here to help the community, you do good work with a 1.25 Patch and gain the trust of most of us. Then you go around crashing servers for fun. Shame on you.

"For fun?" No. Not really. Shame on you for not getting my reason right. And it isnt 1.25 anymore. It's 1.23.1. Go gargle antifreeze.

If any more attacks continue Unknown, you're out, but you may be out already. I am currently considering the 'Should he stay or should he leave?' question.
I would appreciate it highly if PE members gave their opinion. Thanks.

Oh, and also, many people think that 'PE is at a standstill' means 'PE isn't recruiting at the moment'. That is so wrong! Of course we're recruiting! Join at anytime!

Actually I formatted the server. The link still refers to the old location.

If you formatted something everything on it goes 'Z00/\/\!' and disapears, from my annoying expierences with floppy disks. I hate that.

It's not that anybody doesn't think that you're recruiting, it's that nobody cares or wants to join.

If you don't think we know the definition of format, that's just ignorance on your part. Formatting doesn't actually make data go "zoom", it just makes it so that those sectors of a disk can be overwritten and used for something else. The data is still there until it is overwritten. No reason to hate it, because you can get it back.

This has been a friendly in your face, courtesy of Sonyk.

Oh, and I've decided we don't need clan support anymore. And we need a co-leader.

And we're also recruiting again! ;D But it's not like we weren't recruting before ;(.

shaney: It isn't multi-clanning if you join. Get it right -.-
FQuist: Read the thread again.

Still recruiting members...
Oh, and I won't be able to report or anything until later today. I'm currently at my Mum's work and don't have my report files, ApprehendJJ2 and other stuff I need with me, but I have JJ2 so I can catch up on stuff.

UF joined as a cover up to prevent people from acusing him of crashing. Get it right.
The odds of Shaney listening to you are nil, so don't bother.

A report that you had refered to in your previous post. You stated you had no reports and could do nothing. What if I gave you one such report?

The incompetence is overwhelming.

You mean exactly what had been done before? Before you decided that a PE was needed on the end of everyone's name? Before you came into our community with minimal knowledge of how the system works?

Case in point, PE equals PointlEss
