Just a small favour...

I am not known for any *cough* ok, NO tileset arts at all... I just needed a few tiles, that's all... Can someone send/post the following tiles? Thank you!

-Carrotus path tile to Diamondus path tile Transition.
-Diamondus path tile to Carrotus path tile Transition.
-Carrotus ground tile to Diamondus ground tile Transition. (One with and one without a gem)
-Diamondus ground tile to Carrotus ground tile Transition. (One with and one without a gem)

PLZ-TNX-OK?

Well, I keep busy... But, the whole tileset I just made for this is really screwed now... I'll upload it, anyone who can see what went wrong, please help... I really need this tileset...

Tileset & Mask. Saved as a 256 color .bmp file. Something went terribly wrong during saving... And, ofcourse... I didn't make a backup...

Obviously the two tilesets connected use more than 256 colors. That or you used a sucky program to convert the color format.

Ouch. You see, Diamondus and Carrotus both use 256 colors. However, it's a different 256 colors. The software could only use half of them.

In the future, always save as a full color image FIRST and then reduce in a save-as so you can try different things and different programs for the color reduction.

BlurredD's Crash Course Partial Solution

Those textured background tiles burn my eyes. It's a shame to still see people having palette issues.

What I would suggest is:
  • Read about palettes from Disguise's Tileset Resource (DTR).
  • Get an image before you reduce any colors.
  • Open TilesetPal.
  • Learn how to use the basic features of TilesetPal.
  • Load your tileset image in TilesetPal.
  • Use the Palette Merger feature to load the tileset palette that goes with the textured background tiles you're using (I can't say for sure that the Diamondus and Carrotus tilesets use different palettes for the textured background, but I can't check right now and they are probably different anyway).
  • In the Palette section on the main part of TilesetPal:
    • Change the top row (Index 0-15) to Don't Use.
    • Change the sprite colors (Index 16-95) to Don't Change.
    • Change the textured background colors (Index 176-207) to Don't Change.
  • Reduce colors.
  • Save final.

If my directions made sense and you managed to do all that, the textured background won't look horrendous anymore. By the way, this method doesn't account for palette events since that would complicate things.

And so much for a reply to the first mentioned problem. I personally think this other problem is much more important.

Why do you want a mix between two tilesets anyway? Why not create two different levels using those tilesets and let them fit between each other as good as possible..
