LMAT (June/July)

...hooray. Remember to read the rules - most of them are now clarified and improved. Also, the production process is now different. During the first three days, you are supposed to draw up your own initiative tiles (don't go overboard, either), and then everyone may work on the tileset as a whole with those tiles which work best.
  • Adding tiles from the previous LMAT editions is not allowed.
  • There are no official color restrictions. You may draw in 8-bit, 16-bit, or however you want.
  • When updating the tileset, you may also edit existing tiles - this includes changing the colors, making them bigger, fixing small bugs, changing the shading, etc.
  • If you have already successfully contibuted to the tileset, and think that some of the tiles should be deleted from the main tileset image, you may initiate a vote for removal of those tiles. You have to precisely indicate that you're initiating a vote, and which tiles (or sections of tiles) you want removed. The voting period is two days long, and a 75% (3/4) majority of YES votes is required for the desired tiles to be removed.
  • You may not initiate a vote for another two days after the previous voting period.
  • If an addition is below the whole tileset's quality standard, it may be removed without the voting process.
  • You may delete your own tiles at will, unless they're heavily integrated with the rest of the set.
  • The vote's outcome isn't acceptable if no one has voted.
  • Do not include a Palette tile.
  • Please refrain from posting textured backgrounds until we have an idea of what the tileset is like.
  • If you really do not want some of your tiles to be edited, for whatever reason, specify this clearly, but keep in mind that people might then not use your tileset at all.
  • Logical content rules apply. Do not use the tileset to contain attacks against other people, pornographic or oherwise illegal images, links to illegal web-sites, or stuff like that. Use your common sense.
  • Enjoy, and don't be afraid to ask questions!

Thats a concept I've done before working on any actual tiles.
If you have no idea what the place is, go re-read the JJ1 in-manual comic.

Hey, the Rat planet from the JJ1 backstory has no real design. Let's make it Grecian, with yellow grass! And some rock mines. I'll draw up some concepts right now...

I will, But I doubt they will listen

EDIT:
Haha I went back in time but they didn't listen, I sorta proposed pink ground though.

There's weird, and there's WEIRD...

...anyway, I agree with "Please not somthing else with teal ground" and, personally, I'm not too fond of the yellow grass, either, but if you manage to not make it look ugly, I'll be fine, I guess.

I was mostly using pallete choices from the JJ2 pallete. I think the land in the JJ1 comic is a bit paler.
Of course I'd feel a bit better if you changed the yellow, seeing as you have some expertise in the color.

Thanks, but.. if by "change the yellow" you mean "find another hue of yellow that looks better", that won't do much to change my opinion. It's got something to do with human perception; yellow grass looks sick and/or unnatural, so it's perceived as ugly.
But if we're going for a comical tileset, why not.

I also failed to point out that it's not grass altho it probably looks that way in my atempt to replicate the nifty zig-zags from the comic
It's more just plain rock ground, that or insanely flat grass.

Oooh. I didn't quite remember that comic, I thought that was the planet with the bar on it.
While we're at it, we might as well include all the locations and everything from those comics into the tileset... now that can be worked with.

yeah, if you take some away and make the other spikes a little bit bigger (and maybe add a 'bling' animation) you're done!

Uh, I don't like the tile too much. The black->teal gradient strikes me as somehow not looking too good, and besides it looks too much like Exoticus' ground tiles.

When I said insanely flat grass I was poking fun at everyone who called the ground grass.
