This is an invaluable library for scripters and the demo weapons are well-made too; they are easy and fun to play with, and now also easy to add to your own levels.

Small in size, big in fun factor. The various tilesets have been amalgamated together in a very cohesive way that has resulted in a well-realised cave environment. The carrot placement is inventive, especially with the radically differing spawn times. This level went over very well in JDC 30’s ODT #2; we’ll likely be using it again at some point.

Definitely one of the more interesting levels I’ve seen. I’d give this a much higher rating if it was a tiny bit less evil, as this is an incredibly daunting level the first twenty or so times you play :D

But once you get past that it’s ace, and pretty one of a kind. Kudos SE!

For the restrictions of the above mentioned contest, this set is quite creative and full of detail. The only issue is that it has no slopes, but again I guess that’s only because of the restrictions.

While this tileset is quite difficult to use and is somewhat limited due to the restrictions of the contest, the creativity and art style shines through. I strongly recommend this set for anyone looking for an interesting challenge. Despite its limitations, it’s also surprisingly flexible if you’re willing to put in the effort.

Cool level, had fun playing here, espiecally because of the fact that the powerups respawn quickly. The coin warps here are one of the best that ive ever seen as I actually bother to hunt after the coins (unlike most other battle levels with coins)
The tileset is nice, colorful and rarely used which makes the level even more original

Evidently I promised this a review, deservedly so as I seem to duel in here every time JDC comes around. This is a simple, small map that is ideal for 1on1 matches. While there is a trick with a crate involved, you can virtually learn the entirety of this map in a manner of seconds. There is suitable ammo for the type of layout provided, although imo bouncers are clearly the best weapon due to the vertical gameplay and slopes. I feel that the bottom part contrasts this due to it’s flatness, but perhaps for the better as it encourages the use of the variety of other weapons here. The placement of pickups is very balanced, so that there is always a lot of mobility; matches feel fresh and quick instead of stale and campy. The eyecandy is nice but not obstructive or overdone, its done well in a way that it doesn’t stand out at all but feels natural, because of the limited amount of tiles actually being used from the Dreempipes tileset in keeping with its visual theme. Only when you stop and pay attention does it become evident that there is more going on than initially meets the eye, especially in the background layers (the foreground could’ve used a bit more love though).

Overall, I almost feel as this level is a mandatory addition to the folder of any battle player since it fills a niche, it’s balanced, it’s very easy to learn and provides a quick burst of fun battling without overreaching beyond what it intends. The rating here doesn’t quite tell the whole story, and its probable that only after having a match here can the appeal of this level be fully understood.

A big battle level with no odd ammo; consistent with itself in every conceivable way,
with blaster pu, flame pu and fireshield where it is almost meaningless.(in the water)
The movement is smooth, nowhere to trip or fall back down, clear vines, carrots spaced nicely, with springs inset where they should be; this only make you slow a little if ya wonna use em and no tripping if ya don’t.
This level lets ya move without thinking, you just go where ya like; the ammo restrictions make the fighting closer and the level bigger than it already is.

As a fan of Fast Fires, I really like this one. With only FF and Toaster available I can see that the point of the whole level is to get a hold of the fireshield and destroy the other ones so that your enemies don’t get ‘em. And of course the FF combined with the fire powerup makes a great impact on gameplay as all players will try to avoid the player who has the powerup while trying to shoot each other as well.
The fireshield is also cleverly placed in an area where it has no use – under water. Big + on this.
(I could tell there wouldd be a lot of rabbits in the water :D)

On the side of the actual space and ambient, the map has a perfect size for the battle and it is quite spacious. Only thing here that bugs me is that I get a feeling that there be a bit too many wines. But that’s just my opinion and it doesn’t actually cause any problems to the gameplay..

PS: really like that the water bubbels are coming out of those cracks in the ground :D

In this half futuristic, half natural cityscape, you can even walk on clouds. The sky is cloudy, but you can see the sun in the horizon.
There are 2 parts of the level: The one above the clouds, and the one down in the city. In each you can find a variety of weapons and power-ups.
This non-scripted level is complete of tactics, eyecandy, rain, vines, hooks and even sucker tubes.
Paths are smooth, but not too much. You’ll still have to carefully grab the hooks or jump from palm to palm to make your way back sometimes. And the opponents are always lurking around.

One of the best battle levels I’ve ever seen here on J2O

A rich level made out of a not so rich tileset, without using AngelScript.
Here, we find ourselves in a dark and lifeless cave with a thermal waterfall and a lake. I like levels with water in them. At the center of the cave is some kind of hydroelectric power plant.
The level is very playable, and Battle is one of my favorite multiplayer modes. There are no camping spots. Just a big arena with a lot of paths.
Being this a thermal spring, the only ammunitions that can be found here are flamethrowers and upgrades for your blaster. This makes a good challenge for players who are specialized with any other weapon, like the seeker or the 3 way missile.
Jumping and running isn’t the only way to get around here. Besides having to swim, here you have to bounce on springs, climb on ropes and grab on handles.

Once again, it’s hard to make such a good level with a tileset like this. Download recommended, totally.

This level is a brilliant example of how you don’t necessarily require the ability to script in order to be innovative. The ammo/shield concept combined with the theme is honestly pure genius. While the level may have somewhat one-dimensional gameplay as a result of the lack of weapon variety, it more than makes up for that due to fun factor.
