If this level was meant to have any purpose except fooling newbies, it doesn’t serve it. It’s made in a nice tutorial style, but if you’ve ever played like the 3 first levels of the original episodes with every character, the only new thing that you may find is Lori’s ability to go through things with her spinkick – the skill isn’t explained well enough though, and a newbie who didn’t ever hear about it has nearly no chance to perform it.
This is not everything though. The level has many other different “challenges”:Btw, the eyecandy (which I wouldn’t even mention if not seemingly high standards of this community member, judging from his reviews) sucks. It’s nothing different than the most basic Top Secret tiles and pipes in the background. The level makes use of two layers. Some of the most lame test makers out there are able to use this tileset in a more original and visually appealing way.
They often create better levels too, but that’s another thing.
“and whoever made the Top Secret ]|[ tileset, since I used that.”
Overlord made that….
I think this level is good enough. Eyecandy looks good, enemy and pickup placement was fine. There are some bugs though, and I don’t think the music fits the level, but I still think this level deserves a nice 8.4.
Ummm,ok This is kinda pointless
really though wat is the point in it?
Hmm…I pretty much know these tricks already, didn’t know the first one, but that was flawed anyway. Though i already knew about the second thing. Well, I got to it. I think Lori is pretty cool, just having the lack of a high jump can mean that she can’t pass some custom made SP levels. And some high places, in MP, will require running and jumping from somewhere, which takes more time. Copter ears aren’t generally considered as useful in MP by some people.
But, I know some more tricks!
Wallhax. Or wallkick, doesn’t really have an actual name, tiles 16 pixels wide or thinner can be kicked through with Lori, though you need to kick at a certain place. You can also kick through 1 tile warps with it too.
Also, if a thin wall has an item beside it 1 tile above, you can stand at the corner, or kick at it, and you will get the item.
If the floor isn’t too long, and a spring is blocking you in the way, you can kick through it. I actually found this out in lazily made JB levels.
EDIT: Just fixed a mistake.
I have something to add, since you don’t seem to know this; Lori can spin-kick through wind events on the ground, while Spaz cannot, and Jazz can’t kick sideways at all.
So instead of the sideways stomping blocks with collapse scene, a wind event with about 20 speed makes only Lori able to pass it.
EDIT: Not only can Spaz get through the first check as Jgke said, when you fall in the pit after you stomped through the whole chain, you can’t get to the other side at all, even with Lori. Using wind seems more useful to me, and it works without a flaw.
I managed to get through the first “check” with spaz. A kick to right, quick move to left and second kick to right. I couldn’t manage to get through the second “check”.
Good idea on this level though.
