As an ex-mm fan I find this level converted somewhat perfectly, visually. The gameplay however is not adapted for JJ2 at all, to be actually challenging. One can simply speedrun the level in less than 30 seconds. Since JJ2+ is necessary at all because of the music, much more could have been done with it to adapt a more appropriate gameplay.

Haha, good I’ve finished the game not long ago :D So i know most of the traps. Well, the level isn’t perfect, but it has the Catmario’s climate :) Most of the traps are alright. Good job!! The tileset is made very well.

Zelda – I love map, i love tileset.Palette is weird a bit, but it is cool ! 10/10
Super mario bros tileset – 2/10, too buggy, sprites are totally fail, 3D graphics – good idea, but not good concepted.

10 + 2 >>> 12 / 2 >>> 6/10

If you want big fun, play Zelda level !

Hmm a Mega Man tileset, these are rare! Mostly only Mario tileset we got.
Its weary good peace of work. Its totally like the real Mega Man 2’s Metalman and Bubbleman stage(and I know it how it is look like, I played mmm1 to x8).
Tile set:8.0
Perfect just like the real one and its not hard to use! But you should put in more things like more enemies or items.
Example lvl:6.0
Good its have everything you need to know what it is. But you shoud put an example for Bubbleman too.

Total:7.0
Super work! I hope you make more
Download recommendation: Yes! A must see for all Mega Man fan.

Bonus comment:
Perhaps other will give smaller rate but with this tile set you can reconstruct the 2 Mega Man II level.

Not good.

EYECANDY: There are lots of NES tilesets on J2O. However all 3 of these are bad. When you use any of these Tilesets in a level the character will look ugly and the score counter and text events become unreadable. The graphics are OK but these errors ruin it. 3/10

LAYOUT: The Mario tilesets have lots of blank spaces. The Zelda tileset has a lot of the Sprites from Zelda 1 & 2 but not all of them. The Zelda 1 Dungeon graphics are not there. 3/10

MASK: The masking is OK but the Mario 3D design looks bad. Zelda design is OK but the character turns out ugly. 4/10

EASE OF USE: The Zelda tileset would be way too hard to use. The 3D Mario Tileset would also be difficult to use. Some of the tiles can be animated but not all of them like in Zelda & Mario. 4/10

TOTAL: 14/40 = 3.5

I thought I’d try a grading system.
GRADE: U
GRADING SYSTEM:
S = 10.0
A = 9.0 – 9.9
B = 8.0 – 8.9
C = 7.0 – 7.9
D = 6.0 – 6.9
E = 5.0 – 5.9
F = 4.0 – 4.9
U = 3.9 or lower

If no one likes the grading system, then tell me.

OK, I’ll give it a shot.

NOTE: This is the first time I have EVER reviewed a Tileset so my review may suck. I dunno much about reviewing Tilesets so I may need help.

EYECANDY: This tileset uses the NES Metroid style graphics. Unfortunately it makes the Character look rather ugly. The text and score counter becomes unreadable when used in a level. Most of the Tiles look really bad and jagged. 1/10

LAYOUT: There are lots of blank spaces which could have been filled in. 3/10

This is another failed atempt to make a good tileset.

EYECANDY
Nice Nes style graphics, but the extremly odd pallette spoils it.
2/10

MASK
The mask is ok, but with a very dull Zelda tileset design.
3/10

DIFFICULTY
Despite being a very simple tileset, it is quite difficult to use.
2/10

TOTAL
This tileset is one of hundreds of Nes tilesets. Rarely are these tilesets good. This isn’t one of them.

Design: Since the design was really by whoever worked on the Super Mario Bros. 3 team (and the Super Mario All-Stars team), I can’t give a rating on the design. I will, however, tell you that this tileset looks horrible. Thomas failed to use a proper tileset pallete program (such as the readily availible TilesetPal), and thus everything looks grainy and unplesant. Everything is a pain to look at. Beyond that, while Thomas had a lot of room for pretty much all of the tiles used in Super Mario Bros. 3, he only included the first world (and even forgot a lot of things, including the huge steel blocks and the checkerboard ground). 2/10.

Layout: Not so good. There’s open spaces everywhere where you could stick stuff in. If you gave me 15 minutes, I could probably make this tileset 33% shorter. Sadly, this is one of the better aspects of this tileset. 3/10.

Eyecandy: The eyecandy, although designed in SMB3, looks terrible here. The fourth frame of the lava is the same as the first, and the flag, for some reason, isn’t 2x size like the rest of the tileset. 2/10.

Masking: The bane of every tileset creator and level maker. That’s right: Thomas used AUTOMASK. I’m not sure if I can even attempt to create a working level here. 0/10.

Other Remarks: Ninte*n*do is not a trademark, it’s a regestered trademark. There’s a difference, namely the ® and the ™.

Overall rating: 1.75/10. Sorry, dude. Next time try not to make your conversions as grainy, and don’t use automask, those two really hit you hard.

Download recommendation: No.

You could just download music from other mario conversions…..but that would be cheating a bit.

The tileset. Never rate the levels in a tileset upload (unless specified otherwise by the tileset author).

OK, I think I know how to rate Tilesets now.

Now that you mention it, after playing it again it looked bad.
Thought I’d try a new rating system.

EYECANDY: There are already about 10+ different Mario Tilesets on J2O and this one is not good. The tiles look grainy. The background tiles are awful, you can see squares on them.
2/10

LAYOUT: The tileset was not made from all the levels in Mario 3. There was LOTS of empty spaces in the Tileset which could have been used to put in the other objects from Mario 3.
1/10

MASKING: EVERY tile was masked, there was no tiles that you could go through. Now I know what Automask is. If I made a Tileset, I would NEVER use Automask.
1/10

EASE OF USE: This tileset would be easy to use but the fact that the Tiles cannot be animated lets this one down. You can’t animate the bricks or ? blocks like in Mario.
1/10

TOTAL: 6/40 = 1.5
DR: No.

Darn, I can’t get the images to show.
BAH! Forget the images.
