White Manse (Castle Remix) | 2654.82 kB | 13 Jun 2006 |
well first of all i’m well aware i didnt bother adding melody lines to the song. i lacked inspiration to do so, so ya know.. i just left it like this. second of all, please review this and be as harsh as you want, i honestly don’t care if you give me a 1, i just want constructive criticism as i take music writing very seriously now (not so much this song, it was just something i made for fun) but any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated.
don’t try to listen to this in jj2.. and i can’t promise it’ll work right in winamp either, i used advanced instrument effects as well as directx effects. look at the song comments for more info and stuff.
oh yeah, and finally, the quality probably sounds kinda lousy, the song was original 30 some mb, then i cleaned up the samples so it was 9 mb, then i reduced the quality of some samples that were way too big and it was 5, but then i realized it had to be less than 2 mb for j2o, so i reduced even more samples so yeah. i dunno. you probably won’t notice too much of a difference unless you hear this compared to the original.
Hmm… Quick review.
I like this song. Especially cool rock rhythm with nice transitions, it rocks. And almost everything other is ok too. Good bassline, peaceful background, clear, awesome samples… Nice. No new melodies, but I don’t miss them much… Thing I dislike about this tune is that lead sample is too quiet, too inexpressive…
But as I said, nice tune, download recommended.
(and you finally used that Warder instrument which I sent to you ;p)
White Manse:
Rating:
It is a good tune. White Manse is another Castle Remix. It is very clear that this tune is a remix from the classic JJ2-castle-tune.
But there are also problems with this tune: The lead sample is too quiet, too inexpressive… and not very medival…
Conclusion:
It is a fair Castle Remix, but not enough for a sufficient.
Rating: 4,8
Download recommendation: NO!
[Unsupported rating (4.8). It is not made clear why this deserves a low rating, besides one comment about the sample. I was convinced that this was indeed unsupported. (No, the trolling didn’t do that.) – FQuist]
Straight to review:
Nice synthish backround throughout. I like the drums that used the ‘distort’ effect at the begginning and end. This song would be great for a snow or maybe even a garden or cave level. Despite the samples having a few problems (i’ll mention later) all the samples fit together and don’t sound slightly out of tune.
However, the song feels a bit too much like castle because of the fact that the song is not re-arranged and that there is nothing different. Its feels like just a sample change with some extra-ish bits to mix with the song. The samples doing the main castle bits feel as if they need to be louder and to ‘yell-out’ more. The lead sample is one example.
GOOD POINTS:
Nice synthish backround
Drums at begginning
Nice ‘snow’ effect
Samples fit together
BAD POINTS:
Just a sample change
Quiet samples
RATING: 6.9 (Incredibly harsh rating since its 0.1 away from a DR and a better rank.)
RANK: 6 OK
DOWNLOAD: N/A
EXTRA NOTE: So why do I rate it 6.9.?Well, 6.9 is pretty good, but you wouldn’t get much feeling from the song because of the samples and there isn’t really anything new from the song.
this wasn’t a sample change, i started the song over from scratch. but thanks for your input and all, and for reviewing. just wanted to mention that cuz people who make sample changes and say they made a remix need to just curl up and die. and i don’t wanna look like one of em.
