Description

J1CS? that? JCS94? Whatever you call it.. it’s here.
New in version 1.01
-Found the sun toggle switch. Can now change if the sun appears or not in J1CS.
-Found that event 125 is always foreground modifier and 122 is always One-Way
-Press B to select the block from within the level window as your current painting block
-Press Ctrl + E to select the copied or recently selected Event and press Shift + E to paste a selected Event and . You can also mass paste Events with the Shift + E combo.
-Press Ctrl + Z to undo your last change
-You can now save Event names using your own naming convention and JCS ’94 will remember your presets.
-Color scheming is now available in two colors – classic blue and ugly grey
-Some newer Event parts were added. Read the updated helpfile for more information
-You may now extract and inject Events from and into levels. This decision was made because some people were too upset to make the Events themselves.
-The level names and tileset names are now displayed in the labels in the main window correctly all the time
-JCS ’94 will no longer crash if loading an invalid level

Easy. JCS ’94 has that option because each level for the same worlds usually has the same maskings. Just take from any of the levels. However, YOU extract the masks from the levels. READ THE DOCUMENTATION. There are many things in there to help you make levels easier. I also started making a level, and thus changed JCS ’94 a bit to get rid of some annoying things. A new upload is almost definate.

Which Animation number is jazz?

It depends on the level… try hitting low… like animation zero or 1. Those are usually jazz animations… but as I said, it really matters. You can have a jazz enemy, and I’ve done it before. Explore… this is what this project is about.

Originally posted by BloodRabbit:
How do you play your levels?

You have to overwrite an old one. Make sure your level has the same name as the level from who’s animation file you injected and uses the same tileset. Back up your jj1 folder before you do this.

Originally posted by Blackrabite:
Ok, does this require the full version of Jazz Jackrabbit?

Yes it does. Tests show that the level format changed from version to version. I KNOW JCS 94 will work with all 9 episodes (jazzcd) , but I’m not sure about episodes 1 – 6. I need someone to tell me if it works with that or not.

Originally posted by BloodRabbit:
Why can\‘t you put something in J1CS that you can use to play your levels?

I can’t because JJ1 doesn’t have commandline parameters to run a level off the bat.

For those of you who forgot all about this editor, I wish to inform you that sometime in mid 2004, I plan to make a level that will (most likely) be very bad, but will hopefully spark some interest in JJ1 levelmaking.

Well, I DID post a review noting that reviewers don’t hang about (Radium posted almost as soon as it went up).
However, the reviews seem to have mysteriously disappeared.

Trust me, people. Download this. It’s great. Even if you don’t make anything serious with it, it’s fun to mess around with.

Crap.. I forgot to put in a lot of thankyous. In order of time:

Haze: Provided me with a file which began my whole learning of the JJ1 file formats (still going on of course).

Benjamin Mathews: Created the file(s) which Haze provided me with. It contained the basics of RLE, which wasn’t complete, but got me going.

Newspaz: Joined early on and was an awesome go-to guy whenever I needed something done or looked into or whatever.

Monolith: In a post of Newspaz’s, he mentioned you’d guessed that the tiles were stored one tile wide. You were right. ;)

Link, and others: Took a look into the project in the early stages, but were unfortunately not really ready to help out as much as the other people.

AtomicFeline: AWESOME. This guy is crazy.. he works too hard. He made the program in VB with a bit of help from everyone else.. He has done insane amounts of research as well. This project would be going on for another year to get this far without him.

ToxicBunny: Joined only recently, but still figured out some stuff and is still figurING out some stuff.

Everyone who believed in the project! This probably means you!

Oh.. and Nebula for helping with the upload here at J2o. Thanks!

Edit: OK, works now.

Simply amazing. I never thought that a JJ1 level editor was even possible, but this thing is even more powerful than JCS. The possibilities are seemingly endless. If you have JJ1, get this. Period.[This review has been edited by Black Ninja]

Ok, does this require the full version of Jazz Jackrabbit? Even if it doesn’t, I still need the full version because I never got it with my game and I didn’t get a notice either. And I like to ask questions too.

Powerful! This thingie has got MUCH more stuff than Jazz2 JCS. However, this makes it way hard, so it will be even worse than learning Jazz2 JCS again from the very beginning. Anyway, I hope that there will be some mad skilled people who will start making Jazz1 levels… Don’t look at me, I’m busy enough. :D

IT’S COOL!!!

but,
this is very, very hard to use. Lot of layers (Lot is not only 20…), no named events… This is not completed. And how I can run my level?
But, this is only fan project, then…
For fan of JJ1 d/l recommended. Maybe this is interesting, but… too hard for now. You must wait…

Good. Finally! JCS for JJ1!!! I cant rate too high, the events arent labled and all that other blah. But its OK, and it works.(Really wants events labeled, also wonderz if its possible to make a JJ1 Windows Source Port, Run JJ1 in windows)

It works: 7.5
You can get jj1 tiles in the blocks.bmp
(NICE!): 8
E.E.: 8.5
Overall: 8/10

Yes!

This is something what I was looking for. Few months ago when I did’t know this site I was wondering if it’s possible to get JCS for JJ1.
Now I know that it’s possible and everything works.

Only I would like to see the animationn blocks in this JCS – I would be very happpy!

Oh and as aconvertor of jj1 tileset I think that this is one of the most useful things on j2o site. Doing the convertions JCS94 is helping me a LOT.

Really nice job and I couldn’t rate it any way because I think that this is not a correct way to rate this wonderful programm, I only would give off points because there are some bugs (well.. not exactelly bugs)

Yeah it’s great- I would give 9.5
:)
