Nothing is going on in the art forum so I figured I would post.

I got my hands on PSP8 lately, and it's taken me out of whatever art making doldrum I was in. It's an absolutely wonderful tool. As always, I'm mostly about manips and wallpapers. Any comments and crits (DA users tend to never give very helpful crits, just always-positive comments) are very much appreciated.

In addition, here is a very small collection of the 3 photos I used to make the first image. The source image for the second wallpaper full sized is here. If anyone is interested enough I can upload the full photos of the first three.

Hey cool, I was wondering what the source photos were for the first once since you couldn't find them again on DA.

Dude. If anyone sees me commenting on an image on DA, they'll publically flog me! o_o;

Hmm? Why is that? Radium has rounded up an angry mob?

Why is that? Did I accidently round up another mob?

And nice pictures, Tick.

That wouldn't surprise me, either.
It's just that everybody stopped watching me on DA because I stopped commenting on pictures. I have, like, 1000 pictures to catch up with.. hurrah.

You know, you don't HAVE to comment on everything.

And that's exactly what I'm doing since a couple of months. =b

I dislike DeviantArt. You do not recieve any creative critic and you will only become popular if you have a nice drawing style and draw cute things, such as furries. Take Batty as an example, his comics are really great in their own style, yet he gets no comments, why? Because his art aren't unoriginal, 'hawaki n_n', and with a big shining ripped background. I might sign up for DA, but that would only be to it show off for friends.

That's abit of a generalization, Moonblaze. There usually isn't much good criticing, I agree, but becoming "popular" on DA isn't the goal. The goal is just to share your art, and make some friends. If you make a lot of friends who enjoy your art on DA, then people will comment. The key to doing this is commenting yourself and being active.

DA is waaaay too big to make such generalizations about what other people think of as good art. Moreover, ripping is totally against DA rules. If you don't like DA simply because it's such a hard community to get known in, then you're looking into for the wrong reasons. It's about art, enjoy it.

There's actually at least one group on DA you can join if you want to be criticized a lot...

DA's layout is also amazingly poor. It loads slowly, you can only view 24 thumbnails per page, you can't (as far as I can tell) organize your gallery into folders... the list goes on. Heck, even the automatic index page generated by throwing things onto an empty webspace is easier to navagate.

Say, thats like my site! But I'm going to be doing thumbnails soon. Say, about 24 thumbs per page, and no subfolders. Sound good? er... wait...

1)Yes.

2) You can alter how many thumbnails you view. Also, you don't have to have thumbnails at all.*

3) If by folders you mean "this is the folder where I put my sci-fi art" etc, no. There are categories, though, such as scraps, prints, wallpapers, etc.

4) The list does indeed go on. =P

*I believe you must be registered to change the page layout.
