So, this is a new thread to talk about your matches in the Duellist Cup... I'm personally very interested in the results of others, so this is a good place to post your all your match reports...

Well my first match was against FireSworD...
I started well in JE (taking a 4-0 lead), but he ended even better (winning it 5-4 after all) ... Then we played our second match in Battle1... In this level I wasn't really a match for him... He took a 4-0 lead and then we had a double kill: makes a 5-1 victory and a place for FireSworD in the second round...

Yeah he was clearly better in duels than me in semi, but I don't mind all that much since last time we duelled (in a different level), I beated him instead. I didn't expect him to be this good in semi and it makes me proud of him :).

Ok, I played my first game against SpyBunny today.. and I won 5-3. Here a short summary.

Start : I got a bit unlucky with the car, but he had a good roast. 1-0 for him.
Then it was my turn to roast him, and so I scored 1-1. It went like this till 3-3... then I got a bit lucky with the 4th roast. I think I shot Bouncers there. That was a nice shot, and 4-3. He was close to making 4-4, but I could move the car to the right and found him on the left. And so I won my first game in this tournament. Next round will be some other time.

Well, we played in QQ. It was a pretty good duel.
First round:
This one was erm, normal, I think. I won 5-1 in this round, it went smoothly.
Second round:
This round was rubbish. I won 5-0, but the score doesn't seem to give the right information.
We both liked to walk to the wrong base most of the time. I didn't score once because of that, so did he :S well, G_G overall, not much lag :)

Uhm I'd just like to add one more thing bout my duel, had veg not tipped me off, ajazz would have been dangerously close to winning(if he wouldnt actually win). I'm rubbish at b1, whilst he pwns there... it took nerves of steel, camping and very original thinking to win. So as everyone else pointed out, the jj2 community really lacks some more n00bs:)

Rules for the host & hosting

1. A host needs to be present at the decided time, hosting the decided map and the decided, game mode.
2. The host should have a few programs running which help with lag preventing and other annoying problems. Those programs are Respawn (for making sure all single ammo gets respawned) and Cataclysm (to make sure the host is stuck and doesn’t hinder the players while playing their furious duel).
3. The host should not interfere with the duel in any way, but it a certain player needs something fixed in the level (for example: a certain powerup needs to respawn and the host needs to take it) the host is free to move. Each player gets a total of 5 minutes time-out per match (for toilet breaks, stuck in walls, etc.) Lag problems don’t count in this.
4. The host is not obligated to create log files of each match, and doesn’t have to run any anti-cheat software. This may be done as long as it doesn’t hurt the speed of the host’s connection.
5. The host needs to host in a passworded server, with a maximum of 3 players allowed. This is to prevent any cheat-tool users from entering the server while in mid-game.

Heh, darn you really shouldn't underestimate people, since I dueled DeDe today in BBlair...I won both matches, but only as 5-4 each. For first I was pretty sure he'd get 1-2 points against me at least in one round, but it went even 4-2 for him later on.

I had also a really unrelaxed feeling through the match, shouldn't drink coke on the same day the duel is anymore. Not that I would get drunk about it. Anyway, there were really close moments of me getting finished and I even kept mistaking with the platforms and missed a perfect while to recover my health by not jumping high enough for the left carrot, so I got roasted. Other times I luckily escaped to the another carrot when the current one didn't yet respawn. And most time I even stupidly ran out of ammo which made the game even more dangerous for me. Sometimes my shots seemed to just miss him and so I might have thought he got hit. I got a 3hk at 4-4 though probably cause of rf's. He wanted to give me a chance still and so it went on though without it he would have won it. So did he got a 3hk as well, so I fairly gave him a chance as well, then I was finally able to finish him, though it was really harder than expected although it was in a lvl with two carrots. Otherwise, there wasn't much lag in Veg's server.

On the second round it was even more painful, like I expected I roasted him twice in the round begin and ran to his base each time. Then on the game went smoothly to 4-4 again, now that mostly when I roasted him I was near to my base and which reminded me not to run into his base, d'oh. He was so close to make it 5-4 again for himself so that could be almost called at his victory, which unfortunately wasn't.

I feel the same bad feeling, because losing in 5-4 is way more painful than 5-0 or 5-1 at least, since the mistake or whatever that made you lose, was about to be so small thing. And you were so close to victory. I had such losses a lot on JDC seasons 8 and 9. Well played anyways DeDe, and try to achieve as far as possible in LB. You'll face either Squirrel or Violet as next opponent, no idea who since I haven't seen Violet really playing a certain time. :p

P.S I also need to prepare better for future matches, since DeDe didn't happen to be online much at the same time as me so that a match should have been wiser to play just asap than on arranged time. Whatever, crap, lol.

So far, 6 of the 16 duels have been played (and a half, DarkSonic still needs to play a second and eventual third round against SpyBunny) and since about 40% of the time has passed, I can say we're excellent on schedule. Great that most of the newcomers in the scene play their duels as expected, I hope we will have a first round without any forfeits!
There is, however, one forfeited match already: player ThaSpaz was caught doing unacceptable things on the networks so was banned from the listservers, which gave Sacrush a wildcard to the next round. There also have been some problems with the fact that Blackraptor replaced Cooba, the involving players will be contacted.

It's either they are really good, or we are developing skills which just don't work on players of that level. In some situations it's easier to beat skilled players because you know what they'll do. Lesser skilled players, though not as deadly, can be more unpredictable and may do strange things that'll catch you off guard.

The 2nd round was quite easier then the 1st, uhm I did get 2 3hks though. Which didnt bother me half as much as the airhits in the next two friendly games we played gry:)

My thoughts: well, that didn't work out quite the way I had hoped. I was pestered by a few 3hks, but I don't think I would've made it even without them. It was showing that neither of us had played recently, since we both made tons of stupid mistakes. And I made a few more I guess, heh.

Edit: I just noticed I'm drawn against a banned player in the first round of the loser bracket. Does that mean I can sit back and enjoy the ride until the round after that?

heh, i want to add my thoughts about the duel aswell. heh, i havent played for 2,5 weeks, and i was nervous thoughout whole match. but i managed to pull it off. currently, i feel good, since that was first time i defeated enig in a duel. oh and gry's server was nice for me, altough there was stuff which distracted me a bit sometimes but it doesnt really matter..

Today I played a second and a third duel against SpyBunny. The second duel was a 5-4 win for him in Semi, the third one was a 5-0 win for me in BBLair.
The match in Semi was one-sided at the start because he lead 3-0, but I managed to come back till 4-4. Server lagged a bit though. He scored that last point because I had 1 and he was at the carrot. So it was 1-1 total.
The last duel was in BBLair. A quite easy duel for me. He said he's not very good in BBLair but he almost scored a point ;) But I won the match and so I go to the next round. :-)
EDIT : You have to? Well, I didn't know that. We just played 3 different levels.

Comments: Jesus christ! I thought I would lose for sure. Skull was leading 4-2 or 4-3 and then I scored the next few points. I had some problems here with fake health, +1 carrot not spawning and Skull just randomly appearing in front of me, but otherwise great game. Was really close and anyone could've won.

Second round was sort of one sided. I already saw that SkulL was lagged on my host, weird things happened, but well, it was clear.

third round was erm.. laggy.
for both players. it was close because of that though.
I've seen many weird things happening while they were dueling. airhits and so on..

Anyway that rule was rather lame IMO. Cuz 2 people can hardly agree on 1 level. Plus 9/10 duels would be on semi or sumthing. Here we have variety. Enigma can pick bbswing, i can pick zaitox, some1 else can pick battle, etc...
Although I kinda agreed to 2(3) rounds of AYB against shaney. Will prolly lose IMO, I suck there.

I go to the lower bracket by losing against FireSworD.. 5-2, 5-2.
First match was in BBLair and I had a terrible start which leaded to a 3-0 lead for FS. But I scored 2 points and had some hope again. I shouldn't have ran away so he could RF me easily. That made a 5-2 loss, and my first loss in BBLair since JDC10(but I only did 1 duel in BBLair between then and now)
The second match was in Pinball Arena 2k5, which is a level I don't like that much at all. This time I had a 2-2 draw, but the end was not good enough(it ended in a sort of 3hk when I got the carrot but just after that I died) So that means it ends for me in the upper bracket. I still have a chance in the lower bracket, but who do I have to face? The schedule says I have to face Quickz/SpyBunny, but that should mean that I have to face SB again if he wins.

I'm too lazy to write a long comment, but however I won the first round by 5-4, then he won the second by 5-4. The server was indeed extremely laggy for me and lag free for him. I really hate to whine but I swear I kept getting hit by <i>nothing</i>. (-). Death to my (-) ISP.

Yeah, well, my first loss in Distopia after... like.... one year and a half? :o

The third round will be played tommorow at 9.30pm since he had to go. Wish us good luck then.

I noticed this yesterday. The matches which are involved in this are yet to be played (next week), so I still might do something. But I don't know if everyone will agree with that... Anyways, I could do opposite seeding in the LB next time, which means that the loser of WB Eight Finals #1 will have to play against the winner of LB duel #8. etc.

Just for the sake of it: this duel has been forfeited. In the first place, I picked a random winner from a jar, but after a while I realized (with the help of some others) that I promised Squirrel to pass on to the next round already saturrday, after Violet didn't show up for the deadline. Violet showed up the next day so I asked Squirrel if he'd do the duel after all, and he agreed.

I've changed the matchups for Loser's Bracket round 3.

Today's news: the schedule for round 3 in the Loser's Bracket has been changed. I've had many complaints by numerous duellists in the LB concerning the fact that, if they won their duel in round 2, they had to face their opponents from round again. From now on, this is no longer possible: everyone who left the WB after the Eight Finals has been placed on a different location in the schedule, so they aren't able to face their opponents from round 1 again, making an easy victory. This makes the tournament more fair and more fun. Expect more updates tomorrow!

Comments by Snooze: well , it was nice duel, altough mr. chiyu (our host) was lagging a bit for both. and some weapons dindt respawn. still, this was my favorite round of our nice duel, since it was long, and he almost killed me sometimes. horever, i could predict most moves of satan, so i managed to roast him five times. nice duel. thx for satan for being nice opponent, i really enjoyed :)

first, we collected ammo, which was really quick (one of the reasons why i like bblair) and then we went to bases. during this, Superjazz8D joined the server, as he wanted to spectate the match. Me, and Sacrush agreed to it, and then the match started. first minutes were quite boring, thx to airhits i got, but that wasnt really that bad, as i've experienced far worse. then, after few minutes of playing, lag things started to get bit worse. then, i kindly asked SJ to leave, to lessen the lag. well, he did leave, but it seems that it was somehow funny to him, since he started to quote wc3 noobs (Omg LoL Plz leave) etc. oh well, he left. thx to him for that, some people just cant leave, even if you would ask nicely (lol). oh well, duel continued. we both made some mistakes, but soon, score stood at 3-0. for me ofc. horewer, at last minutes, satan started to play smarter, so it took me time to hit him with seekers. he also almost killed me, but i managed to survive. soon, i managed to kill satan with seeks. (or was it bouncers?) and score, so score stood at 4-0. then match continued, we both played quite aggressive, but finally, i managed to kill satan, ran to skeleton warp, and scored!!!!!!!!!!

True, the LB players don't seem to care much or something. Well, as we all know, the deadline has passed us and therefor I'm here to declare some winners which were chosen randomly. These are the random winners from the not played duels:

It's a shame and a waste for the tournament, but I guess there's just no other way. We tried everything to make those duellist play each other, but if it doesn't work, it just doesn't work. Anyway, I already expected round 2 to be the worst in forfeit terms, round 3 should go a little smoother.

For players in the Loser Bracket: from now on you don't have to wait till the end of the round with your games: as soon as your opponent for next round has been announced, you're allowed to play. This is because the Loser's Bracket has a much longer way to go, with more duels to play before a finalist is decided. I don't want the WB Winner to wait weeks before being able to play the final.

This time I wasn't enough though to beat him anyways which was kinda my fault since I hadn't been playing actively at all and Squirrel seemed to be doing well. Plus that I hadn't been always in a good duellist-shape...However servers on both rounds were dutch but I believe it wasn't really the main thing that made the aftermath clear of course. There were times still when my shots however couldn't damage him though they seemed to be at range but those might be more like bugs than lag.

My own comment: The duel was a really close and a though one, we kept scoring turn by turn after each other. Sq got a 3hk somehow but I decided to give him another chance anyways. I was really close to score the last point when I killed him right when he went to the warp in the very right but somehow his bouncers damaged and pushed me with him to the warp and so I couldn't make it to the base in time. There was a chance I could have been wise and waited for the carrot to respawn in the left but as there wasn't much time to think and that waiting for the carrot would still have been dangerous I just tried to make it in the base in time, but he got there before and roasted me once I came out of the warp, so that's it. The server wasn't still too laggy but I wonder why did I cto twice during the game. This round was done at 18th Nov.

My own comment: I could have agreed on some other level but as I'm not too serious with this tournament and that there's a lb, I just played because the duel took it's time after the deadline and we were late with that. There was much guarding around the carrot and the trick to shoot down the carrot even worked for both once. I couldn't just even play carefully anymore at the score being 3-3 or 4-3 for him. This round was done today, 20th Nov.

So hope you can do well against Fs as well, Sq. Let's see who I will get against from the lb.

Apparently you can keep players at the top left warp target there until they die. Even when they enter with 3 hearts. I've seen how this can be done. Green Plant told me you use that.

You know what I noticed? When you play maps like QQ, JE and Slab ratZ, all you have to do in order to win is camp the carrot. You simply can't do anything against it unless you're <i>very</i> lucky. So basically, the first player who reaches the carrot wins. No skill required.
