Ain't that a little bit too many tiles for a single one-tile wide chimney? Don't say it's just because it doesn't tile otherwise.

those chimneys look good. btw, do you remember the animated tiles by blurred on the first page. I think we should include them in the set.

It's almost 2008. Ain't it time to finish a tileset of August 2006?

shouldn't we finish this set soon?
what is left to do before it is ready?

I'd say it's already good enough, just go ahead and release it. ;P

Well, I agree with Emp, it looks amazing, still, it would be pity to just waste the space that's left. Please, someone, come up with an idea!
Idea: add torches for the background or burning fire-tiles.. some light-effects would be nice.

Needs more eyecandy stuff to go along with the lockers and computers. Officey things would work well. Stuff like filing cabinets, desks, tables, cubicle walls, bulletin boards, doors, water coolers, office plants (dead of course), etc. That would make the tileset good enough to consider complete.

Add some background.

tileset looks awesome. I got no critiques but to say it looks perfect. Love the metallic tiles in this, it fits the scenery well. nice job on it. Keep up the good work, man.

It's such a dark shady tileset without any peace... we need to add a big green field of grass 'n flowers with nice woods in the background and a lake and small windmill <!-- eeek just cought myself on being very Dutch --> and a waterfall and a bright, clear sky with some very thin lightblue clouds <3
And of course a huge volcano to burn it all to hell.

Can you do that for tomorrow? ;)

I think we should make a todo-list?
That way it will be much easier to see what's left to be done and perhaps someone will actually do something (including myself ;)).

No, unfortunately. And with a couple of additions, it's good enough to be uploaded too.

Rather generic mountains draw pretty quickly, although this set kinda needed more background scenery so I made these.
EDIT: Added the mountains into the set, and fixed up the transparent colour. (It was not #5700CB) Will probably add some Layer 4 tiles later.

Now THOSE are mountains. Large and imposing, nothing like the tame Psych/Diamondus hills :D
Neat job.

Unfinished and messy, to be cleaned up later, but here's the general idea:

I think one last thing that could be added to this is lights, in the style of what can be done with top secret 3. It would go well with the style I think, and would be easy to draw (just have a solid white tile, and 8 angled white tiles). Hardest part would be making the actual light source tile. I think the tileset is still a little bit lacking in eyecandy, but having something like this would be simple and allow for some rather interesting visual designs.

Pretty lame update, although it's pretty late here and I wanted to post something before I go to bed. Basically these are supposed to be "rocky" caves that can go with the purple ground tiles. Also freed up a bit of space so people can easily add new tiles.
Will post more stuff tommorow.
EDIT: Fixed a small tiling problem with the mountains.
EDIT2: Blah, just realised I accidentally messed up the postitions of some of the tiles. I feel like such a loser now. ;_; This has been fixed.
If you downloaded this image and made new tiles on it, please redownload it and add the tiles onto this.

Made cave tiles proper, more layout overhauling (eyecandy tiles layout complete), still need to reorder the event tiles

Several months have gone by, and finally we have a somewhat finished result! (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=09f39d57acfdfe5cab1eab3e9fa335ca57dc40bb 53e3905f)
Oh, and if you don't want to click the link just yet:
http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/5690/aftermathtiles.png
Most of the new tiles were made by me, but cooba made some too.
The tileset file comes with the mask and palette, both made by your's truly. Me and FireSworD will both be making example levels, one SP level and one MP level.
The only thing we need left are alternative colour palettes, which I'll likely make if no one else wants to.
Oh, and please do not use this tileset yet as this one is still a beta and might possibly go under some final changes. The tileset file included is simply to showcase the tileset as it is now, and will be replaced by a different filename when released to avoid version confusion. However, you may fiddle around with it in JCS and test for bugs, but don't upload a level on J2O with it until the tileset has made an offical release.
Only thing I can see it is missing is a good piston-style elevator/animated door, something like:
http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/6453/lmat02cp7.png
Besides that, and maybe a "lava" version and a "nuclear winter" version, I think it's good to go.
-=edit=-
Also, after playing with the tileset in JCS for two minutes... The lasers would be more useful if the "solid" version of them was masked.

Reuploaded the custom palettes I made earlier, and also added cooba's updated masks.
Unless someone else wants to work on the set a little, this will probably be my last update. Please don't add any brand new tiles though without a very good reason.

nice tileset! May use it in a level
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/4423/lmat.png
I added some nifty elevator/door/piston/smashy things, an animated gearbox to drive it, and then turned the gearbox sideways and made some animated belts, replaced some useless rope tiles with some nifty rope-to-rebar tiles, and moved all the horizontal rebar down 10 pixels to make it all flow... also moved a nuclear power plant a bit to make room for the pistons and belts... and made a couple other tiny little changes.
I also masked everything I made or changed, masked the solid lasers (yay), and added a tiny bit of flair to the masks of a couple tiles. Uploaded on Imageshack because I randomly can't access chaos.foxmage, I'll have to bug Radium about that...
It's a PNG, not a 256 color BMP so it needs Purple Jazz's pallets applied to it before it can be compiled.
Uh, I think those few finishing touches finished it, so if someone would do the honors of recompiling it and uploading it, I think we are pretty much good to go. There are only three unused tiles right now, so unless we want to add another row I think this is all we really have room for.
Right, uh, sleep.

Btw, I just noticed that we don't have any signs, perhaps the three empty tiles you mentioned could be replaced with signs?

I don't see the need to add anything else to the set now, so I guess it's finished now! Included in the zip are 3 small battle levels that I made quickly, to be used as the example levels for the set. Someone with the password to the LMAT account should probably want to upload this now.
@zapS: There are signs just next to the sucker tubes.
didn't FireSword want to make the example level? I think we should let him have at it before we upload it.
-=edit=-
just played your example levels, and they are quite good at displaying the ins and outs of the tileset, so unless FireSword insists, I think we should be good to go.
-=edit edit=-
Just found four duplicate tiles (1,23;1,24;4,23;4,24::9,95;1,51;8,95;2,51) so that puts our unused tile count up to 7, (see also 2,19;9,60;9,61) so if anyone was recently working on something smaller than 8 tiles and wants to add it, DO SO QUICKLY, otherwise this thing is pretty much finished.

I already spoke with FS beforehand and he wasn't able to finish his example level, so he agreed to let me make some.
Personally I would rather people not add any more extra tiles into this set now, unless it's absolutely necessary in order to get something to work.
Found a small bug, the right side of tile 10,68 seems to be missing it's outline.
-=edit=-
Fixed that, and accidentally added five more tiles, ones that are needed to get stuff to work. Also masked said tiles. This caused the black tiles to be re-arranged slightly. And also awesomafied the belts, as they kind of sucked beforehand.
http://chaos.foxmage.com/n0/lmat.png
It shouldn't be too hard to fix your example levels, PJ, but if it's too big of a change we can let it go.
Also, I have a word in with FQuist to get me the password for the LMAT account, he said he'd get back to me soon.
