Hmm, reminds me a lot of Entervoid. : )

I don't know if I'll participate since I'm usually slow with getting things done on time.

Fawriel
Nov 15, 2006, 09:09 PM
I almost spat out my breakfast all over the keyboard when you mentioned me in one sentence with Rad and Michelangelo ( one of which will obviously win ).

...but for that alone, I have to participate of course. And for the fun. <s>And MONEYS!</s>

I second Dal wholly.

Fawriel
Nov 16, 2006, 04:00 AM
*encourages Dal and 2xGJ*

So, some things aren't clear to me. For one, you speak of art in very general terms in the long version, but explicitly say "draw" in the nutshell. It would definitely be fun if someone used a song as an entry... or a poem. Or.. culinary art? Clarify plz

And more importantly, it doesn't really make sense that person 2 is always the winner in the actual pieces of art by default. Shouldn't the conclusion be left open in order to be decided by the poll?

n0

I'll add shadowman to the list... later, I'm kinda getting ready for work.

Any art will do, but I use "draw" to mean "Make Art" because I couldn't think of another word.

And more importantly, it doesn't really make sense that person 2 is always the winner in the actual pieces of art by default. Shouldn't the conclusion be left open in order to be decided by the poll?
Person 2 doesn't win, per se, but seeing as they get to finish the fight, they probably end with an upper hand.

Fawriel
Nov 16, 2006, 07:26 AM
Hmm, I was imagining some sort of.. ending where both are still standing and it's not yet clear who would fall to his knees or something like that.. *is trying not to spoil the actual idea he got*

Well, what you say makes sense in one way, but from the perspective of who actually does win.. not really. Open endings should probably be encouraged.

PS: I enter Fawriel, of course. =P

Nov 16, 2006, 11:18 AM
So, if your art form is Culinary and you're fighting someone who draws, you are expected to portray the encounter in the form of an epic soufflé? I don't actually plan on doing this; my Culinary is terrible, it's just a funny prospect.

I'll concoct (as in, draw, animate, or model) something later.

Risp_old
Nov 16, 2006, 05:25 PM
I'll enter. I actually have my character drawn... but hostned is down, so I can't host it right now.

Isn't it obvious, it's the face of god. ;D

Fawriel
Nov 19, 2006, 09:10 AM
...by the way, this is probably obvious, but... we have to submit a picture of the character we're entering, right?

EDIT: Never mind, I guess I'll.. have to whip up something then. And I really hope you don't need 2^n characters, because if anyone's entering now, we'd need another 7 to join to get 16. ^^;

NovaStar
Nov 19, 2006, 05:01 PM
...I got delayed. AGAIN. I know, I know, I'm getting annoyed too since it's the third or fourth day of delaytion-whatever. I'm hoping on 5 more days.

n0
Nov 21, 2006, 09:40 AM
Right, we currently have 2^n entries. I'm going to wait a week more, and if we don't have 4 or more more entries by then, we will play with the eight we have now.

Radium
Nov 21, 2006, 09:43 AM
I'll enter and mess up the numbers soon. If needed for me to participate, I'll scrape up 3 more people.

Radium

I was going to make something hard to draw, but halfway through said "screw this" and came up with a snake.

I propose that if we hit 12 people we just stop there and have the last fight be a 3-person FFA.

Strato
Nov 22, 2006, 12:46 PM
I'm game. I'll get to this and we'll only need one more.

Fawriel
Nov 22, 2006, 01:18 PM
I was going to prepare a picture specifically for this, but..... before someone snatches my place, this will have to do as a placeholder:

Radium
Nov 22, 2006, 02:04 PM
I propose that if we hit 12 people we just stop there and have the last fight be a 3-person FFA.What will the turn order be? It can't really be a back-forth-back-forth like a 2-person one.

Also, Nobody, can the first post link to my SWF file? The image isn't my entry, it's just to make the link prettier.

n0
Nov 22, 2006, 03:58 PM
I would rather use a n^2 number of people, but if I have to use 12, the last three will play against each other in three sets of pairs and the total votes in each thread will be added and a winner declared.

<nvm>

And I encourage Dal and 2xGJ to join, even if all you do is forfit it makes the elimanation charts easier.

Fawriel
Nov 22, 2006, 09:05 PM
And suddenly "Axle" makes a lot more sense.

We should probably all write little somethings about the character's we're entering, because the fewest entries are characters everyone knows, heck, in some cases I don't even know what they ARE.

Cori, half squirrel, half fox. That'll have to do for the moment until I fix it up a little - it was a rough pen sketch that turned into... something.

Radium
Nov 25, 2006, 11:41 AM
We're so close to 16 it'd be a shame if we didn't make it. Am I allowed to enter two fighters and do two battles at once? I have another art style I want to take a spin at, but don't want to lose my excuse to animate a snake. And it's not likely the final battle will end up a Rad vs Rad anyway.

n0
Nov 25, 2006, 09:26 PM
I agree, it would be a shame to stop this close to 16.

Rad, you can have a second guy, but if we exceed 16, he will be the first axed.

Puffie40
Nov 26, 2006, 01:22 AM
Against my (Better) judgment, I will enter the fray with a Rabbitearth Soldier!

http://www.maj.com/gallery/puffie40/Rabbitearth/resoldier.jpg

Backstory: In 2090 during the Exosian war, the Rabbit Legion was created for patroling the colonies surrounding Rabbitearth. The mainline defence between the colonies and the dangers unknown, the Rabbit Legion is ready for battle equipped with the latest in energy weapons and equipment.

You know, that would make a good avatar...

Fawriel
Nov 30, 2006, 05:08 AM

..that's funny. I was thinking about the same, although I wasn't seriously considering it because I figured that we'd be paired up by chance. =O

Radium
Nov 30, 2006, 06:24 PM
If Stratten uploads something and pushes it to 17, can I sacrifice Axle and keep Eirrukovi? Writing overexaggerated narrative captions and taking pictures of lego people is faster and more fun than animating a snake.

Crimi, you still want to face off with rad now that it's a lego instead of a snake?

And entries are now closed.

n00b and Strato need to pair up somehow, Stjin, Puffie and Hareoic need to confirm or deny their fights.

And they're off! Well, most of them anyways...

The four who have not confirmed their starting partners don't have a thread yet.

I'll accept that challenge. But don't be so cocky.

n0
Dec 1, 2006, 12:57 PM
Alright, apparently people got confused when I said "punch" in my round one threads... What I mean by a punch is an art. A photo of a lego stabing a monkey, an animation, a comic strip, a poem, cullinary art...

And that's why I called it a punch, because this is an art battle, and we battle with art, and thus to throw a punch is to make an art.

n00b
Dec 1, 2006, 01:03 PM
I'll accept that challenge. But don't be so cocky.
It's called making the fact we were pretty much forced to pick each other look interesting.

EDIT- Can the art be animated?

Radium
Dec 1, 2006, 06:24 PM
EDIT- Can the art be animated?Yeah. I was originally going to do this, and Risp (AFAIK) is.

EDIT: And a question of my own, for N0body: what happens if some battles finish before others? Will all the Round2's start at once, or will the winners of fast battles immediately fight eachother?

n0
Dec 1, 2006, 08:07 PM
What happens if some battles finish before others? Will all the Round2's start at once, or will the winners of fast battles immediately fight eachother?
The winners of the fastar battles can either pair off or wait until the person they wanted to fight becomes available.

ThunderPX
Dec 2, 2006, 01:43 AM
Wait, I thought it was like this?

a. Person 1 will draw Character 1 meeting and picking a fight with Character 2.
b. Person 2 will draw Character 2 fighting back against Character 1.
c. Person 1 will draw Character 1 counter counter attacking Character 2.
d. Person 2 will draw Character 2 finishing off Character 1.
f. Everyone votes for who won that match.

Funny thing. He can control every aspect of his body independently, and uses his sheddings as projectiles that can become superheated by absorbing light before combusting. The shards of the fur then bury themselves in the target and continue to cause burning.

In other words, do so at your own peril.

Besides, I lost because I didn't do anything like this. And I didn't get to use the giant robot.

Careful; you want him to be creative without being "Mary Sue"-esque. Unless he's supposed to be, like my character.

I'm still limited to using what he has and what he can do with his body. If I had chosen my anthropomorphic personification, however, THEN the floodgates of my imagination would essentially explode and cause a great uproar in terms of ridiculously powerful and varied abilities. (this single aspect, unlike the prism cat, I have spent at least a year devising, so yes, he has a vast repetoir of attacks) if you were designed by an omnicidal genius to be the most powerful and adaptable weapon of absolute destruction, odds are that he made certain you'd get the freakin' job done)

You need to shut up about this (-) giant robot. If this thing was so great, you should have used it instead of doing the same attack twice.

Because I didn't think of it until after I used the attacks. And I didn't think of HOW it could be done until later as well.

Which I won't tell. I don't want to spoil it. But no, he doesn't build/discover/steal it. Brownie points to whoever can figure it out. <VOOOOOOLTROOOON!>

Instead of going on about how great Prism Cat could have been, as opposed to how underwhelming it actually was, why not just shrug it off?

Funny, because if you had used the giant robot, YOU MIGHT HAVE WON.
Did I not just say that I didn't come up with the idea until AFTER I threw the second punch?

So we have Dev, n00b, Erik and the winner of Faw and my fight still to pair off for round two.

If I win, I'd like to challenge n00b, I don't think I can compete with either Dev or Erik's artwork.

I guess you guys can keep going on this, it just stopped being fun once everyone decided to forfeit.

We do seem to lack artistic enthusiasm.

Herr Wittke! I challenge you to an ART <s>BATTLE</s> DUEL!

EDIT: OF EPICNESS!!!

Fawriel
May 17, 2007, 04:36 AM
And the winner is the winner of the Art Battle?

We'll see about that.

EDIT: Yes, I'm talking about the prize. I'm a greedy weasel.

This would be better if it was like the JDC, I mean, challenging whoever you want, and then the one with most wins on a preselected date would win the tournament. Just a suggestion.

Ooh, nice idea Pako.

It'd need it's own forum though, I don't want to see this one clogged with a bunch of threads. Especially, if the previous art battles are any indication, when most of them end up being forfeits.

..I don't want this to take two years to end, you know.

Oh, by the way, don't plan on me heading up the next one, this one was a bit of a disapointment.

Fawriel

So... no prize?

Hey, Wiis don't grow on triis. Stop looking at me like that.

Hey, Wiis don't grow on triis. Stop looking at me like that. That pun was enough to automatically make me the protagonist in the upcoming battle

I'll wager money for teh win if you wager money.

If anyone ever wins THIS battle, I'll send them a prize.

So, Faw, you game?

Mind if I go first?

Fawriel

Well, curses, I set myself up for that one.
Alright, go ahead.

I think it's a d-d-d-d-duel.

I say go on, I don't want to know I wasted time trying to find a voice actor and animating for nothing just because all of a sudden I have free time again.

If this is continuing I have a new character, but not really that much time :/.

May 23, 2007, 02:58 PM
Er, Faw, would you rather go first? I'm have a few things to finish this week, and one of my actors seems to be hiding.

Fawriel
May 23, 2007, 04:35 PM
Actually, not at all. I have no ideas and some things to do as well. I'll gladly wait for you to make the first move, then strike back with cunning stuff and something like that.

Radium
May 23, 2007, 04:48 PM
Alright. You don't mind me running over the 1-week thing a bit, then?

Fawriel
May 24, 2007, 05:50 AM
We didn't actually START yet, so why not. And yeah, you never know when something gets in the way... I should have plenty of time now, though. Just don't exaggerate it. Two weeks is enough. Three weeks is too much.
