What would be interesting is if the no voters said why (and how).

Yes (TSF, not LK Avalon version). I can connect to TSF servers with TSF levels / not multiversion on.

I bought both CC99 and TSF around 3 years after I played JJ2 for the first time (after release in 1998). And to be more exact, I bought CC99 before TSF for no real reason. Both came in those huge software boxes yeah..

I got TSF for free when I bought JJ2 (or actually I bought TSF and got 1.23 for free with it, I think), and bought CC from the bargain bin a few years later.

I bought it twice. I bought the Project2 version but the CD got scratched. So then I got the LK Avalon version back when Aiko was selling copies.

No, because I don't play JJ2 anywhere near enough for it to be worth hunting down a copy of TSF.

I had one, made a copy for a friend then the original had an....accident. So i did at one point at least

I don't. I bought a cd which had 1.20 on it when the game came out, (and was supposed to have jj1, but didn't) and later patched it to 1.23. I didn't play online for years after I got the game, and didn't become part of the community, so I never even knew TSF existed until a few years ago. And by that time, hunting down the game legally would be rather difficult.

I think I used to have it, but not anymore. Hell, I don't even have the original disc for JJ2 anymore, just copies floating around the house.
The only way I'd be able to get it is eBay, and I don't know how much it goes for now since I'm kinda poor

Yes (TSF, not LK Avalon version).
I'm more interested to know who has actually bought it.

I have TSF, but I never managed to get ahold of CC'99.
I have HH'98 anyway so it seemed moot.

By the way, I remember I USED to have TSF on a "Twilight" cd-rom... I don't have a clue whether those were legal or not, but it had full versions of all sorts of games. On this one, I recall, was also a full version of Rollercoaster Tycoon and some baseball game and 5 or 6 others I never played.

That was most likely an illegal distribution of the game. Sometimes people make copies of a game and then sell them (generally at a price way cheaper than a genuine copy). Even today you can find illegal copies of games, movies, etc being sold in stores can be found fairly openly in pretty much any major city, if you know where to look. As a bonus, they usually come with extremely broken engrish subtitles.
Fun fact: it is almost impossible to obtain a copy of JJ2 legally. The terms of use (license.txt) state you cannot "distribute copies of the Software by sale or
other transfer of ownership" and that you can't "rent, lease, or lend the Software". In other words, you're not allowed to sell it or even lend it to somebody. So, unless you bought the game off a shelf in 1998 or 1999, or managed to obtain an unopened mind-condition boxed copy sometime after that date, your copy of the game is illegitimate. For those of you that are concerned about this, you should delete your copy of the game and turn yourself in to the authorities immediately. This also applies to those of you who originally installed the game on one computer, and then copied it over to another, newer one.
Extra fun fact: The license also prohibits reverse engineering the game, and states this part in all caps. That means JJ2+ is so illegal that its illegality cannot be expressed in lower case letters. While it is probably ok to <i>use</i> JJ2+, its creator is almost certainly an international criminal, and will face justice as soon as INTERPOL manages to track down his location.

<s>But CC99 has that incredible menu.</s>
Bought original JJ2 (preorder) and bought TSF (import preorder). My copy of CC99 was somewhat less legitimate.

A friend gave me a copy of version 1.00h somewhere in 1999, that was the first version I played JJ2 on. Later I had cd's with 1.20, TSF and CC99. I downloaded 1.23 ^D
I got it in '99 (was that when it was released?) for my birthday. My parents pre-ordered it from overseas, I think. Thus I have two copies of vanilla JJ2. I don't own any of the Christmas versions. I brought the box and sleeve to Australia with me, I believe.

TSF is becoming a necessity with this latest, absurd hip thing and some servers choosing to have the multiversion set to off with little to no reason.
Also, apparently it's a foolish question with a simple answer, but why couldn't the TSF ability of using bigger tilesets be implemented to 1.23?

Anti-hotel script? What? To stop people from asking to host them? TSF and 1.23 have different engines, I don't really see much of the point of adding something to a version which pretty much has less features as it started off with. Perhaps it's just because that I'm not a 1.23 user to care enough about it. The "trend" of keeping multiversion off is because of this huge res"hack" release thing.
Anyway err, well I started off with version 1.20 I think, then got 1.23, then I wanted to try TSF out as I was very curious of what Lori was like (reguardless of what other people said about her), also I could go on more servers then, and find out what the heck hotels were out of curiosity (and when I did, I then wondered why some people found them so great). Even so, I stick to TSF now since I can go on more servers and stuff(:lori:).

I have only TSF, downloaded somewhere, and 1.20 somehow came with my computer, but I patched it to 1.23, so now I have 1.20, 1.23 and TSF. I played in 1.20 when I was little, (offline) and I finished the game - passed all levels. When I get internet, I started to play 1.20 online, and somehow 1.23 players came in 1.20 with colorful name (JazzED), then I asked them what it is, and such as that... After that they told me where to download patch for 1.23 (on J2o) and I patched it. After that I downloaded TSF somewhere. I am not sure if my games are legal, but who cares }>

If I recall correctly, downloading copyrighted material is legal if you already legally own the copyrighted material in question.

Since JJ2 doesn't work with licenses, that seems highly unlikely to me

I got CC99 for $1 at Microcenter in a bargain bin. I already had JJ2, but I lost the game (sorry) and thought CC99 had the complete game. I later found the regular game which had fallen behind the desk.

Okay, this story has a long version and a short version, here's the long version...
My older Brother used to play the Shareware Episode of Jazz 1 to death. Soon(I don't know exactly how, but I assume my parents bought it), we got Jazz 2, I don't know when we got it, but it was some time around release, so our copy was pretty rare, then we got Jazz Advanced, which we lost a few years later. Then we lost the box and disc for original JJ2 around 10 years ago, then we aquired a new copy(I think), but we lost that too.
Then, around 2-3 years ago, I found Amazon.de, and bought JJ2:TSF. Now, I've got a question, does anyone know how to make LK Avalon TSF compatible with JJ2+? Don't say download a different version, and don't tell me it's complicated, I'm up for complicated methods. Oh, and if it requires a Hex Editor, please tell me where I can get one.
So, that's the long, and strange story of how I have JJ2:TSF and not the original any more. I know for a fact that my copy of the original JJ2 is long gone, same with Jazz Advanced.
Oh, and the short version:
I used to own JJ2 1.20/1.21/1.22/1.23(I'm not sure which), but I lost it.
I used to own Jazz Advanced, but I lost it.
Right now, I own JJ2:TSF(LK Avalon :()

This thread ends up being about passworded .j2l files, but it does include the names of several hex editors, which you can then find using a search engine.
