I bought both CC99 and TSF around 3 years after I played JJ2 for the first time (after release in 1998). And to be more exact, I bought CC99 before TSF for no real reason. Both came in those huge software boxes yeah..

No, because I don't play JJ2 anywhere near enough for it to be worth hunting down a copy of TSF.

I don't. I bought a cd which had 1.20 on it when the game came out, (and was supposed to have jj1, but didn't) and later patched it to 1.23. I didn't play online for years after I got the game, and didn't become part of the community, so I never even knew TSF existed until a few years ago. And by that time, hunting down the game legally would be rather difficult.

I think I used to have it, but not anymore. Hell, I don't even have the original disc for JJ2 anymore, just copies floating around the house.
The only way I'd be able to get it is eBay, and I don't know how much it goes for now since I'm kinda poor

I voted yes, but to be really honest, I don't have a legal copy.

By the way, I remember I USED to have TSF on a "Twilight" cd-rom... I don't have a clue whether those were legal or not, but it had full versions of all sorts of games. On this one, I recall, was also a full version of Rollercoaster Tycoon and some baseball game and 5 or 6 others I never played.

That was most likely an illegal distribution of the game. Sometimes people make copies of a game and then sell them (generally at a price way cheaper than a genuine copy). Even today you can find illegal copies of games, movies, etc being sold in stores can be found fairly openly in pretty much any major city, if you know where to look. As a bonus, they usually come with extremely broken engrish subtitles.
Fun fact: it is almost impossible to obtain a copy of JJ2 legally. The terms of use (license.txt) state you cannot "distribute copies of the Software by sale or other transfer of ownership" and that you can't "rent, lease, or lend the Software". In other words, you're not allowed to sell it or even lend it to somebody. So, unless you bought the game off a shelf in 1998 or 1999, or managed to obtain an unopened mind-condition boxed copy sometime after that date, your copy of the game is illegitimate. For those of you that are concerned about this, you should delete your copy of the game and turn yourself in to the authorities immediately. This also applies to those of you who originally installed the game on one computer, and then copied it over to another, newer one. Extra fun fact: The license also prohibits reverse engineering the game, and states this part in all caps. That means JJ2+ is so illegal that its illegality cannot be expressed in lower case letters. While it is probably ok to use JJ2+, its creator is almost certainly an international criminal, and will face justice as soon as INTERPOL manages to track down his location. |

I got it in '99 (was that when it was released?) for my birthday. My parents pre-ordered it from overseas, I think. Thus I have two copies of vanilla JJ2. I don't own any of the Christmas versions. I brought the box and sleeve to Australia with me, I believe.

TSF is becoming a necessity with this latest, absurd hip thing and some servers choosing to have the multiversion set to off with little to no reason.
Also, apparently it's a foolish question with a simple answer, but why couldn't the TSF ability of using bigger tilesets be implemented to 1.23? |

Anyway err, well I started off with version 1.20 I think, then got 1.23, then I wanted to try TSF out as I was very curious of what Lori was like (reguardless of what other people said about her), also I could go on more servers then, and find out what the heck hotels were out of curiosity (and when I did, I then wondered why some people found them so great). Even so, I stick to TSF now since I can go on more servers and stuff( ![]() |

I don't see a red flag being thrown. This is good news so far. If the admins back off, we should start trading warez on the misc forum!
