View Full Version : Custom J2E files and why you should warn people if you use them

Custom J2E files are episode files which are used for your own single player projects. Over the years, I have collected quite a large number of them. I must say that they are fairly useful for easily accessing an episode. There is a major problem though.

Today I downloaded violet's hocus pocus pack. I just unzipped the thing into the jazz2 folder, not checking what I was unzipping and generally not caring. I loaded up jazz2 and tried to play single player, but as soon as I began loading the episode selection screen, jazz2 crashed. The reason was that I had accumulated too many episode files, 9 to be exact (this is counting the official episodes).

I'll just keep it to the point. Tell us if you inculde custom j2e files. That way I can delete an old one without having to crash.

I agree. My JJ2 also crashes whenever it loads single player because of this.

Yeah, I would like to know too. Devil Dash is parted to episodes so this would really come in handy. And I also heard that this episode problem occurs only in 1.23, so I can sleep safe (can't I?).

Actually let me say it like this.
I would be annoyed over if a crappy episode got an episode file, becuse I had to delete an old one.
Violet actually spen 13 months on his pack.

In Violet's defence, I believe he actually did warn that there was an episode file included.

He did. I have nothing against his pack.
I meant that Violet did spend 13 months on his levels, that they are very well worked thought, while a pack like That there happends when you die would be a pain with a .J2E.
Get it? ;P

I wanted to make an episode file for Devan's Secret Weapon, when its ready. And I've been working on it (very slowly, on and off but mostly off.) for years now. If it is ever finished, that is.

Hmm.. I have only seen the one from Martin's pack and the Blues Brothers one. There are more??

Well, I'd like to know how to do it. I promise not to abuse it.

Well, actually it went like this: I was planning a single player episode (Putrid monkey strikes back), and asked Shadow if he could ask Michiel or Arjan for the tool. And so he did and he got it for me.

I used it. And gave the tool away for a few promising projects (Lost World Episode, Tomb Rabbit II). And I guess Shadow did as well. I guess we both told them not to give it away. However as normal there are certain people you can't trust.

This tool was never meant to be shared. Same story goes with the listserver program.

Episodes could come in handy for me (not to make one, to have one for levelpacks), because I (like most people) have way over the 256 (?) levels shown on JJ2.

As for making one, it wouldn't work. Nothing works for me. Either that or I screw up.

So J2E maker is legal only for two people (rabbits)? :( Maybe there is something to do about it?
