Server problem?
When I start a server, I can't have guests in it. Technical problem or noone joins my game for disinterest?

The ultimate test is to make a 1.24 or 1.23+ with multiversion on server and set the name: Super Cool New Test (or hotel) by gus
If nobody joins within 10 seconds it is a technical problem. I dont know if you know but you should forward the ports 10052 udp/tcp and 10054 udp/tcp. If this doesnt work you are one of the many ppl that have more difficult technical problems. If you really want to host you could try to find your problem at this site: http://www.simpleportforwarding.com/ If that didnt worked or if you dont know much about the subject make a post at this forum: http://forums.pcwintech.com/ You will be helped in no-time there

Maybe I've got the problem! Firewall blocked Jazz Jackrabbit. I made a little hole to make it readable.

I've got a new problem.
I now have a Windows 8 and a TIM wireless internet connection. I completely deactivated Firewall and tampered with my internet connection. Nothing worked! My server is still pinging as heck! It also never ever sends or recieves any "baud"! I obviously reactivated firewall and all soon after. Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem?

Very likely chances that your ports got reset. You need to set them up/reassign again.

I have no clue on how to change the port. I don't even know what a port is!
On the guide, it says I should find Ports on Device Manager, but ... As you can see, there is no such thing as ports.

...what. Did you just overlook Foly's post? They're network ports. You need to login to your router (this is done by entering your IP into the address bar), to open ports.

192.168.1.1
Is it a valid IP address for hosting games? The other IP address is tagged as "empty or invalid" I also can't find the game port in Registry Editor.

Sorry for bothering "you" so much.
Actually, there are many users on JCF, and they could try to help me as you do. Now this is what I get when I write my IP address in the bar: 2.192.55.61 It changes into this: 192.168.1.1/html/index/html?url=2.192.55.61 And that changes into this: 192.168.1.1/html/opennewwindow.html Shortly, it blocks me out of my IP address by relocating me to a blank page. Seriously, I think TIM is trolling me! I'm pretty sure TIM, and this internet key in particular, is the ONLY cause of my pinging. None of you people uses a TIM/Huawei wireless internet connection, right?

I think the JCF might have bugged; I'm sure I posted something a while back.
Anyway, try looking up(On google) how to access your router settings, and make sure to include the kind of router in the search(Company, model number, that kind of thing). |

Hi all,
I'm new to Jazz 2 online gaming thing. I found the CDs yesterday and wanted to try it out. But it seems to be a little bit more complicated than expcated. I tried out some different servers, and got banned in 'Puke Nuk3m' in like a minute. Are new gamers not wanted? =/ Also there are a lot of Servers that are password protected and I couldn't find it anywhere. Also I wanted to know, how many of you guys are still playing? |
Oct 21, 2014, 02:12 AM | |
Hi Tourniquet,
Welcome to Jazz Jackrabbit 2. You aren't banned from Puke Nuk3m. You probably got a "Connection Timed Out" error when trying to join Puke Nuk3m Relaxer without installing the JJ2+ addon. To join the private Camel Duels servers, you need an account on the Jazz Jackrabbit Ladder page. After registering, you can see the server login information on the right side of the webpage. If you have made some awesome levels, you can always submit them on Jazz2online or on PukeNukem.com if you'd like to see it back on the Puke Nuk3m servers. Enjoy JJ2! ~ShakerNL

I opened Port Forwarding, and set Jazz2 to 192.168.1.3, which is my IPv4 address, and to ports 10052 and 10054.
It's still pinging though. The only difference is that when they're forwarded, the client CAN see my version and total guests. Can I have some additional help? P.S. I also get a line with name Teredo and port 55703. What does it mean? Last edited by DennisKainz; Apr 30, 2015 at 09:09 AM. |

If your IP is dynamic, you will have to keep re-assigning the port every once in a while. Also did you open the ports for UDP or TCP? Also, don't leave firewall open on jj2...then it'll always be pinging.

For both of them. And I think my IP is neither static nor dynamic, but ... lemme see ... PPPoE/PPPoA. Not sure what it means. And what do you mean exactly by not leaving firewall open? I told firewall to allow Jazz2 through both private and public nets.
Wait ... It now works! Don't know how, but it WORKS!!! EDIT: No, it doesn't anymore. Seriously, what's going on? |
Apr 30, 2015, 09:24 AM | |
No. It is one or the other. You are looking in the wrong place. I googled static and dynamic IP and this sentence explains it in a nutshell: "Dynamic IP addresses can change each time you connect to the Internet, while static IP addresses are reserved for you statically and don't change over time." Please, use a search engine for terms you are unfamiliar with. Same goes for teredo (it has nothing to do with JJ2 though so I won't bother explaining it). And I said that because of "I obviously reactivated firewall and all soon after." from one of your earlier posts. Also, rec and baud won't always have numbers appearing. They happen on occasions. To test if a server is pinging, it's best to ask someone else.

Actually, I can see if it's pinging or not by myself, by opening a second Jazz2.exe and entering as client. And I still have the same problem: Sometimes it pings, sometimes it doesn't.
And ... if my IP is dynamic, what are the possible candidates when I open a port? However, I think it's static, since it ALWAYS shows up as 192.168.1.3 And ... There are External TCP, Internal TCP, External UDP, Internal UDP. Must they be all 10052 or all 10054? Or must they be all 10052-10054? Or must they be one 10052 and the other 10054? Sorry for posting that much, but ... I'm almost there! It never even stopped pinging before today! Last edited by DennisKainz; Apr 30, 2015 at 09:59 AM. |

It's clear you're working with a major case of this. Have you checked out the links in Foly's post?

UDP, 10052-10054. I know this.
As I already said, it sometimes ping, sometimes not, as if my PC was always lagging out. And when the player tries to connect, he gets stuck at the "connecting" screen, until he presses Esc. Now I know how to forward a port, and I forwarded it. I also used the Application Rules to pre-configure those ports on Jazz2, to increase my chances. The problem is certainly another, but nobody wants to tell me what it is. I DO have idea what I'm doing! The problem could be either those who made Wondows 8, trying to sabotage everyone's gaming experience for no reason (Simcity Societies also stopped working as I passed to Windows 8) or those who made the D-Link router, since I could host games with other routers. Or maybe someone around here decided that anything not related to Camel Duels or Puke Nukem mustn't even be hosted ... Last edited by DennisKainz; May 1, 2015 at 12:09 AM. |

TCP and UDP all open, for both forwarding and application rules ... Still pinging ... WAH!!!
I GIVE UP!!! |

Maybe your ISP isn't good enough for hosting servers.
Even after doing all the necessary things, my USB dsl modem can't host servers (Pinging). But interestingly, if I'm connected with someone using LAN emulator (Example: Hamachi)- he/she can join my server.

Gus, I think its clearly a Dynamic IP issue.
Also I Always forward ports 10050-10055 TCP and UDP. To make your IP Static, first look up your DNS Servers. Execute cmd then type ipconfig /all Leave the cmd open, go to network centre, click on your connection which is probably blue (hyperlink), then click properties, then click on Internet Protocol Version 4 and click properties, then highlight 'use the following IP adress', then just simply fill in everything you see at cmd, subnet mask is Always sth with 255 and 0. Good luck! You should be able to do this.

That method doesn't always work though, as routers that assign internal IP's dynamically (by DHCP) from a pool often have their lease time set to a non-unlimited time. Meaning that your router might hand out a new internal IP to your computer even though Windows is configured with a manual one that's expired (thus became invalid) to your router.
Best practice would be setting everything from your router. Look up DHCP, or whatever that's called in your specific router, and try finding a 'Reserve IP' setting. Look for things like IP adressing, My Devices, or static IP. You basically want to link an internal IP (those in the 192.168.x.x range) to your computer. Most routers make this easy by giving out a list of devices currently in use by their network name (such as GUS-PC or Android-xxxx) instead of MAC adress, with a button to make them static. External IP's are never the problem. Yes they can change, theoretically rendering a progressing JJ2 game useless, but it rarely ever happens. They're usually dynamically assigned by your ISP and 'linked' to a customer, but some ISP's tend to release and re-assign all IP's as a rare maintenance measure.

@DennisKainz - Are you using JJ2 in windowed mode, or fullscreen? It should be windowed if you're using Windows 8.
