VelK's Useless JDC Rant (Revised)

Remember a few months ago? I posted a shorter, vague version of the rules here. Since JDC is going to resume [EVENTUALLY] I decided to repost the rant, again! ;-P

---

Hey, everyone. JDC will be opening (eventually), I think. As usual, people are going to make attempts to not follow the rules. The Admins/Officials of JDC have already repeated the following rules over and over and over again; since some of you still don't understand, I will describe the common problems in events. (I am a semi-newbie to JDC, but I think I have seen most of the usual fights.) I made this rant ahead of time, so you can read it before JDC resumes. ;-P

1. Please listen to the event leaders/admins.
They took the time and energy to organize the event for you, and it's plain disgraceful and rude when the JDC Admins/Officials politely ask someone to do something, and that person doesn't listen. If an Official asks you to do something (i.e., bleach you name, rejoin the server, stop cheating, etc.), don't sit around and ask "Y???". It wastes your time, and their time. Basically, if you don't listen/cooperate, you will be "removed" from the server.

edit: Also, do not abuse colored text. Only JDC officials can use colored text in events.

2. Please don't complain about lag.
When I was a new-newbie, I used to complain all the time about lag. Now, having been warned, I know how useless complaining is. If you had a problem with an Official's server, plesae give him/her money NOW so s/he can get a Fiber-Optic Line. Instead of whining about the lag, either live with it, or just leave. Sometimes ADSL/Cable slows down for normal reasons; it cannot be helped, unless you are willing to sue the ISPs.

(Note: This season, I am armed with ADSL. However, that does not mean I am completely lag-free. If you want me to host something for you, I will not tolerate "OMG LAG LOLOLOL!111 =O!!!!!!!" remarks. I would rather host a 20-person party on UT2k3 where everyone is lagged [and no one complains], than host a fairly lag-free [JJ2] duel/event and receive annoying complaints.)

3. Don't join events to cause trouble. Do not cheat.
It's happened so many times, I am not going to explain in detail. If you want to join a JDC event for the purpose of ticking people off, get out of there right now, and play something else (DXMP, UT/UT2k3, JKII, etc., where there are plenty of rifle-happy weird folks who enjoy getting everyone else annoyed).

Also, do not cheat - either by 1) attacking the server with programs, or 2) faking multiple accounts on JDC. (1) The JDC admins are not going to want to spend extra time fixing the damage done to their servers, thanks to cheating wimps who obviously cannot fight independently. If you enjoy cheating, I stress this alternative: go play UT/UT2k3, DXMP, etc., where you know that cheating is acceptable. (2) Do not create more accounts on JDC, thinking that the Admins/Officials will not notice; your IP address is more important than you may think. Cheaters will be caught and punished (usually you will be expelled from JDC and/or banned from all event servers).

5. Be nice to everyone, regardless of who it is.
If it's too hard for you to be nice, don't attend the events. It's one thing when you insult someone during a private duel. It's another thing when you insult someone in an event, where everyone can see it. Keep the fighting to other places (ICQ, MSN, AIM, E-Mail), shut up, and play.

6. Get the password ahead of time, if possible. PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU PLAY.
Shouldn't be hard to understand that. Get the password on the website, not from repeatedly asking other people (i.e., the server). If the website doesn't work for you, or if an Official is hosting an Extemporaneous Event (I don't know what those are called. Was it "Spontaneous Events"?), that is another matter. However, if the event is prearranged, go to the website and fetch the password from there.

Please don't flood the server with "HOW DO YOU PLAEY THIS??//// OMG I CANOT REED RULES LOLOLROFL??~/ =O!!!!!1111" questions. Again, it is easier for everyone, and more convenient, for you to access the website (http://www.jazz2online.com/jdc/), and find the rules/gameplay information yourself. And if you do not understand it, ask someone through a private messaging system, not in the server.

I understand that JDC was originally created as a program where folks could participate in cool events and duel each other for fun, but some people have nearly turned it into an unmanagable disaster. Please be nice and respectful...and play for leisure, NOT to give others a hard time.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

[By the way, I am not kidding about there being "weird people" on DXMP, JKII, and UT/UT2k3. If you desire to be strange, go play with those folks, and you might blend in better. Just don't raise holy fishsticks about lag in some JDC server, okay? ;-P]
