An extensive, useful bot whose main functions are ratings, a function to tell when a person was last active in the channel, and an IRC-based GIP (Games in Progress) script. Of the two main scripts used in #jj2 today (Tickbot and Monobot) Monobot is seen as the "Useful" bot, providing tools and information as opposed to entertainment, which Tickbot provides. Monobot was created and is maintained by Monolith. Monobot gip is one of Monobot's most distinct command, providing a list of active JJ2 games in progress, along with the gametype/various information about the server. For information on the Monobot ratings system, see "Monobot ratings" and "++ and --" Monobot seen allows you to see the last action of someone in the channel. If they are in the channel, it will show what they have last said (and when). If they aren't, their quit last message will be shown. Monobot what/who is allows you to look up what has been said about a particular item. For example, if you said "Monobot what is cheese" one thing that might come up is "[name] says: Cheese is good." Lines from all of the channels that Monobot is in are used for this function. |

A less commonly remembered trait is the fact that Monobot does not have any official list of commands as of yet. We know Monolith updates his bot (especially the very numerous small response commands) but unless a large important command has been added, we do not know exactly what they are. In earlier days it was some people's goals to find every monobot command. This would lead to a lot of spamming, but usually it was all in good fun. Quite a large number of new commands were found, but no official public list was ever started. |
