Upload Version

The Jazz Jackrabbit 2 community mainly uses two versions of JJ2: 1.23 and TSF (The Secret Files). 1.23 is the patched version of 1.20-1.22, and TSF uses version number 1.24. You can see which version of JJ2 you have in the bottom-left corner of the main menu. One of the biggest differences between the versions is TSF tilesets can have 4096 tiles at most while 1.23 tilesets can have only 1024 tiles at the most. For more differences, click here.

TSF users can play 1.23 levels and use 1.23 tilesets in JCS, but 1.23 users cannot play TSF levels or use TSF tilesets in JCS. This means 1.23 users cannot play TSF levels even if the level uses a 1.23 tileset. The Jazz2Online staff prefers uploads to be compatible with 1.23 whenever possible.

Previously, converting a level or tileset from TSF to 1.23 was not a simple task. However, this is no longer the case. zapS has created two utilities that make converting levels and tilesets to 1.23 much easier.

For levels: TSF to 1.23 J2L Converter.

For tilesets: TSF to 1.23 J2T Converter.
