Description

Finally, the day you’ve all been waiting for…yeah right. Like anyone would be expecting this. O well, at least i tried to finish it, and i did it too. That’s something to be proud off (in my case, it really is). There isn’t much to talk about it here, just go read that readme. The levels are made with JJ2 graphics. If you like this pack and the idea, i might be willing to convert more JJ1 levels to JJ2 with JJ2 sets. And PLZ send feedback this time. I’m begging you! :)

Ah, Jazz 1, the game I never played much.

Looks sheepish

This is a good pack overall and is fairly reflective of my limited JJ1 play. I can’t rate how accurate this is, but I can rate how good it is. And it’s pretty darn good. Download recommendation? Sure.

I wish I could give this a higher rating, I would have if you used JJ1 Tilesets.

You people don’t understand…this was supposed to be a JJ2 REMAKE of the JJ1 Episodes. Not a copy. That is why he didn’t use the JJ1 tilesets.

Well some things were missing, like right at the beginning there was no one way on the tree so I couldn’t get up to get the bird. Also some secrets weren’t included.

But I really liked the secret level. It would have been more fun as a bird though (and then just have a morph back to jazz for the boss).

On the boss level, the underground weapons were missing. I also think that the boss chosen wasn’t the best one (too hard for the first episode). I would have used that octopus with the mines spinning around him.

Some things were just perceptions too…like how everything looked smaller. But I played it in fullscreen 320×200, and it seemed a bit more like JJ2.

The blocks were spaced properly, and it looked just like the JJ1 Diamondus, Tubelectric, and Medivo (other than the tileset). It is too bad they didn’t include those turrets in JJ2, though. I can see you put a lot of effort into this, and it definetely gets a d\l recommendation from me! :)

Oh my god. This is awesome conversion of first episode from JJ1. I love this episode. But it’s easy and buggy. JJ1E1 wasn’t like this. Guess why. Like Jazz2 has things what Jazz1 didn’t have, Jazz1 has things what doesn’t have Jazz2. Weapons are different, enemies are different an this is total conversion. All weapons are same. But Jazz2 has more weapons so why to don’t use all? Because this is total conversion. Conversion of level design (9.2), ammo placement (4.0) and J1 eyecandy (7.5) and fun from JJ1 (8.0). I am recommending download this great conversion of cool super episode.[This review has been edited by Danyjel]

A conversion…?

When I first saw this I was so happy to see JJ1 converted into JJ2. I had no idea it would be so arrcurate.

A turtle, a bird in a high rock, its all the same :) …

Ahh good old Diaomndus these are the best levels (besides got love that tune!). It started and looked so familiar. It was all the same right down to the secrets, enmeys, Easy, medium and hard differences. Exaept the beehives and the missing trampoline really take away a few points ouch. But still it is good.

Tubelectric is just as great…

Tubelectic was by far the second best. Would be first but somethings look really stupid when converted. The turtleuts being turtles were okay and it makes up for the lack of turrets.

Medivo was always my least faverouite…

Medivo was converted well and looks better then the Diamondus conversion but to tell you the truth I never really liked these levels to start with and the boss was horrible. Such a small battlefield. I would recomend the Queen boss or tuf boss.

The final stuff…

Pros
-Converted well
-Fun levels

Cons
-Beehives
-Missing trampoline
-Bad boss choice
-Beehives
-The end of one of the Tubelectic levels was changed (orugh I hate that)
-Beehives

Download recomende? Yes just get rid of the beehives and I’ll shut up.[This review has been edited by Sun Fun Dude]

You’re kidding, right? I thought the gameplay was (excuse any coarse language) CRAP. Um, it’s nice that you made almost exact replicas, but GEEZ!! I couldn’t get through Diamondus without JJGOD. There must be a LAW against placing so many Bumbling Bees in one area!! You certainly did not take into account that JJ2 bees are 10000000000000000x harder than JJ1 bees. As for Tubelectric, a n00b who doesn’t know how sparks work would tear their hair out in frustration. (Hint: Sparks only move when you move with your back turned!!) And it happened AGAIN in Medivo! JJ2 helmuts are EASY!!! Medivo was EASY!!! As for eyecandy, it was pretty good. You can call it unfair if you want, but there’s my 2 cents. I give it a 5.5!

This is A Good Jazz Jackrabbit 1 conversion To Jazz2’s environment. I give you 10/10 points. :))) But the Exit’s Doesn’t work. I was use jjnext cheat code. :)
(Unsupported rating removal. The exits worked for everyone else, by the way. And there’s no reason to give it a perfect score if you have a problem that big. Why did you give it a perfect score? Can you explain your rating in a logical fashion? Original rating 10.0. ~Violet)

This has a hell of a lot of problems.

DIAMONDUS:Firstly, this is missing many of the features in JJ1. But you couldn’t help that. Anyway, many of the items were only possible to collect in JJ1. Then there’s the bonus level. What was the point of putting in houndreds of birds when you can’t get them all? Well in JJ1 there are houndreds of birds but you can get them all.

TUBELECTRIC: This is just a dissapointing as Diamondus. The shooting turrets are missing which makes the level easier. Both the levels are too dark and you changed the end of one of the levels.

MEDIVO: Even more dissapointing, no swords which make the levels easy and no lava which light up the level. The Helmuts made it even more easy.

GUARDIAN: Bad choice of boss and is activated too early.

JJ1 RULES!!!

Diamond Forest Sector 1
This level is converted well, but there’s one thing I dont like about this level: In JJ1 it was possible to jump on the top of a tree. There are enough invisible mask in the Diamondus tileset, so why didn’t you use them to mask te treetop? Because the treetops aren’t masked, it’s not possible for Jazz to find the Birdie. I didn’t find any mistake in this level, except for the missing spring, making you unable to get a toaster box.

Diamond Forest Sector 2
This level is also nice, but there’s no reason to use bee-generators. You also could reduce the amount of bees because JJ2 bees have a longer range and are much harder to avoid then JJ1 bees. The fast feet part is very original and I like the last cave before the exit. But why did you use the Diamondus Night tileset?

Diamond Forest Secret
I’ve got not much to say about this level. Please change the airboard into a bird morph, and I’ll be happy.

Tubelectric Tower Sector 1
This level is really good. This one is done really well and it gives me the good old Tubelectric feeling. The tube-corner-parts are used as the huge flashing blocks which looks really cool. There are a few eyecandy mistakes and you could have used something better then the countdown blocks (used instead of the barriers), like the electric pillars in the tileset, but this level is really fun. There’s one thing I really have to mention: the turrets have been removed, and the dark area (which isn’t really dark) is really boring without them. You could add some sparks or use something inside the tileset as turrets, and turn the light to something between 0-50% to make the dark part dark again.

Tubelectric Tower Sector 2
This level was my favourite of JJ1 Episode 1. It uses the Night tileset again, but this isn’t that worse as in Diamondus. Maybe you could reduce the number of sparks (same reason as the bees in Diamondus2) and delete the extra part behind the exit.

Medivo Fortress Sector 1
This level is done very well. The Eyecandy is very good, but it is a lot easier to play then Tubelectric and Diamondus. This time you could increase the number of helmut’s and rapiers a bit (yes I’m terrible) to make it harder. There’s one bad thing in this level: there are hardly any obstacles in the airboard part. I know there are no wall- and ceiling spikes in this tileset, but you could also use moving (or not moving) spike bolls. Except for the airboard part this level is really good.

Medivo Fortress Sector 2
This level is also really good. I’ve got not much to say about it. By the way: There are two ways to get the bird in this level.

Medivo Fortress Gaurdian
This level is a bit small. The boss appears to early and the hidden 1up has been removed. Not much to say about this level.

Conclusion
This level pack is nothing special, but it is one of the rare packs that amused me. You could improve the enemy placement and things like the turrets and airboard part. It’s more important to make a fun pack, then to make a perfect clone of JJ1.

Fun: 5/6
Eyecandy: 5/6
Gameplay: 4/6
Event Placement: 4/6

This was a fairly good atempt to remake the origenal first Jazz Jackrabbit episode, turtle Terror, in JJ2. But, i still realy would`ve liked it if the JJ1 sets would`ve been used. Cuzz you see, the JJ1 editions of Diamondus, Tubelectric and Medivo, had some very nifty things that the JJ2 ones did`nt have. For example:

-The waterfalls in Diamondus
-The mountians in Diamondus
-The turrets in Tubelectric
-The glowing ground in Tubelectric
-The flowing lava in Medivo

And more:-P. But i must say, this is a pretty good “conversion”. Only, there where some things done incorectly. Like in one of the secrets in tubecectric, there where suposed to be about 6 invincebilitys, but there was only one. And also, the tiny turtles(or turtlets) where replaced by their mature cousins, who do hurt when you touch them, while the “turtlets” did`nt. How do i know these things? Well, i just played JJ1 on a old PC a few minutes ago;D. But, go download this, espacialy if you have`nt ever played JJ1. Its worth a try. Good job JelZe o`ll levelbuilder.
