<b>
I opened my eyes and saw Leetzan and Fooruman, seated in a wooden canoe (which, notably, was not in water). The midsection of the canoe was heavily bandaged with silver tape.
“You were clinically dead for like an hour, but Spherey repaired Fooruman’s canoe with duct tape and revived everyone,” Leetzan said.
Despite the impracticality of a limbless magic bubble using duct tape, there was a seemingly more important topic to discuss. “You <i>named</i> the enchantresphere? And Spherey, none the less?”
Leetzan snickered at my comment slightly. “Well, it <i>has</i> saved your sorry tail at least twice now. And considering the battle never <i>technically</i> ended, given the rabbit with the gun was still alive, it probably won’t disappear back to wherever summons come from. For a while, anyway.”
“Where is said rabbit?” I asked, taking a chance to look at my surroundings. The same stereotype dungeon scheme suggested I was still in the citadel. In this room, however, the walls were lined with various control panels that, from the layer of dust that had settled on them over time, likely served no practical purpose.
“Fooruman megawarped us out,” she explained. “Megawarp” was one of those abilities Fooruman had that never proved particularly useful. The concept behind it (being able to instantly move you and those around you to a location anywhere in the universe) was great indeed, but it required you to give the “universal X, Y, and Z coordinates” of this location. Your probability of landing on a <i>planet</i>, let alone the desired location, was extremely low. I chose not to question how this happened either, at least now for the time being.
But there was one pressing question I was meaning to ask. “Fooruman,” I addressed. He looked through me and cocked his head. “Why are you in a canoe?”
“Ah, you see, it all started when we got separated earlier,” he said, glaring dreamily up at the ceiling like someone overdramatizing a story about their childhood. “I found myself alone in the darkest darks of the deepest depths of the dungeoniest dungeon, with nobody on my side. And then I met this nice canoe. From what I learned, it had once been an apprentice of a great magic teacher but had been turned into a boating device by an evil dreadlord named Blackraptor.” Blackraptor had been a recurring name in people’s far-fetched stories. I continued to listen, faking interest. “And so, as months passed we developed a near-symbiotic relationship, between the canoe’s healing powers and my mad skills. We became an unstoppable pair, and fought countless enemies and allies until we both unlocked our true power. Then we went and got ice cream. Then we came as fast as we could to save you.”
“Wow. All in about 45 minutes,” I commented. The old archmage scowled at me and rowed his canoe away out the nearby doorway. Leetzan shrugged and slithered after him.

List exits.
Ask Fooruman if he's seen Uberbob and/or Fawriel.

Radium
Jun 24, 2005, 03:54 PM
The CD is Mozart. It's in its desc. (I have mouseover power!)

<b>I ran out the doorway and into another hall to catch up with Fooruman and Leetzan. “Did you find the others?” I called after them. My question was answered before they had a chance to respond, as I noticed Uberbob, Fawriel, and Spherey waiting at the end of the hallway.
Uberbob was sort of our leader. Nobody particularly knew why. He was a thin gray rabbit with pale green eyes that tended to wander around and examine every random object they could find. His most noticeable feature, though, was his missing ear and two robotic limbs. I lingered back, hoping he wouldn’t feel the need to initiate a conversation.
Fawriel was a healer of sorts. Other than that, I was not entirely sure what he was. His long tail and ears, along with the rest of his body, were covered with light green fur - the only exception to which was his hair, which was blue in color and hung down past his shoulders. He typically carried a spear with him, but his current one was clearly new and a bit fancier looking. He had a shield slung loosely across one arm, and some sort of golden ribbon braided and tied around his waist - likely of some magical significance.
“Been shopping?” I sarcastically asked.
“Yes, in fact,” he answered seriously, “online shopping was one of the many forms of torture we were exposed to in your absence.” I’ll admit I did not see that coming, but the more I thought about it the more sense it made.
Uberbob, evidently, decided it was his duty to take charge again. “The employee exit is right down this hall. We should leave this structure, and subsequently leave this islan-” he began, but suddenly stopped as his eye caught a loose rock on the ground. He quickly kneeled down, picked up the rock, and put it in his pocket.
Leetzan took this opportunity to pose a rather important question. “What about Araches?”
“Who?” responded Uberbob.
“Araches,” Leetzan repeated. Uberbob raised an eyebrow. “That sorceress with the exposing attire. We left her in a tunnel back somewhere.”
“Oh, <i>her!</i>” Uberbob said, “why didn’t you just specify her quantity of clothing to begin with?” Leetzan looked off to the side and sighed, frustrated, but Uberbob had already wandered off to investigate another apparently loose rock on the ground.
“<i>Island self destruct in four minutes,</i>” a digital voice announced over some sort of speaker system.
“Should we be concerned about that?” I asked Leetzan
“Archmage Fooruman said to ignore it,” she responded. “By the way, he wanted to see you about something outside and to the east. If you get a chance, go find Araches while you’re out. I’m going with Faw and Uberbob to find whatever teleportation ward was keeping us on the island before.” She led me through a few hallways to a staircase, then slithered away to go find Uberbob.

I went up the stairway, exiting through a trapdoor skillfully hidden in the middle of a grassy pathway. I appeared to be a in an open area of forest again. It was good to be out of Unfooruman’s citadel; the forest had various flowers and bushes growing wild along the edges of pathways, which lead to the north, south, east, and west. The echo of music was slightly audible from the southwest.</b>

"It's a dance."
"I mean, why?"
"Ah, but the fo'shizzle is no regular dance, my reddish-colored and abnormally hairy ninjafriend!" he explained, "the foshizzle is a dance of great power, unmatched skill, and inconsistant spelling!"
"That all sounds moderately impressive," I commented, actually thinking it was rather creepy.

<b>"Sure," I responded, not knowing whether I would regret it, "I am in great interest."
Fooruman looked surprised. "Wow. I didn't expect that. Anyway, first, you must shake your hips. Like this," he explained, starting to do a dance that made resemble a live fish thrown into a frying pan, only vertical.
I did my best to imitate him. "Like this?"
"No, it needs to look more like a live fish thrown into a frying pan, only vertical."
The dance lessons went on for about another twenty minutes.
"So, I'm supposed to do this dance in the middle of a battle?" I asked, trying to duplicate the overdramatized split Fooruman had executed.
"Why not?" the old man asked, confused.
"... nevermind."
Fooruman stared at me for a moment, still confused, then sat back down in his canoe. "I must depart now, to restore peace and unity to my island. For the most part, they're already there, but I want to go check anyway. BRB K THX LOL." And he vanished with a clicking Megawarp noise.
I was still by the broken machine, having gained nothing but some moderate dancing skills of alleged magic power. The trail to my east lead back to the clearing.

Woah, was neglecting this thread.

<b>I carefully searched the machine for any loose parts that looked like they might be useful. Everything seemed fairly well attached, with the exception of one small gear, about three inches in diameter. I pried it off the contraption with my sword and shoved it in my pocket. I was starting to feel like Uberbob.
I had gotten to know the layout of the island pretty well in my time here. I raced across it and reached where I remembered a town being. Now, however, it had several buildings torn down and yellow tape stretched across the main path. "Under De-Evilization" a sign read. Footprints and cans of alcoholic beverages suggested the presence of many construction workers, though they seemed absent now. There was one person present, however.
"G'afternun, m'gal. 'Wunt spectin' to see you 'gain so soon." Came the recognizable apostrophe-abusing accent of Felipe Oliver Xei (more commonly known as <i>Fox</i>). Fox was a merchant. He sold me some stuff to me a bit earlier when I was still trying to get into Unfooruman's Citadel. Fox skillfully kicked a can off the ground and caught it in his hand. "What c'nye do ya for?"

He tossed me the lantern and First-Aid kit; carrying things with a practical application made me feel much more sane. "Pers'nly, I liked th' chapt'r en how Scotch Tape cre'ted the universe. "It was all pretty good," I responded, hoping to end the conversation sooner.
"Aye. Got pretty slow near th' end, thou."

Sorry, MSB, Cooba posted first.

I went northeast. I reached a large pit, where the monolith once stood. That place still bought back painful memories of Uberbob's inept battle tactics and spotty puzzle-solving skills. Depsite that, I looked over it- the pit appeared to be sixty feet across. I tried looking down it, but it was too dark at to see how deep it was. The stones that once stood there appeared to have fallen down the pit. In fact, as I watched a bit more ground dislodged and fell down. The ground here appeared to be slowly crumbling away.

I supressed the urge to curse at my party. It just seemed pointless.

I could see a door going south which luckily was high enough to not be totally filled up by all the debris. However, the light from the lantern was not enough to see what was in that room- either it was a pretty weak lantern for one with such a lucridous power source or some dark magic was deepening the shadows here. It didn't take much for me to right myself, though, and I then with extra care crawled through the top of the door- the only part not filled with rubble. I went south for a bit, and found myself in yet another familiar room once part of the annoying puzzle hidden down in this maze. A dial stood on a table in the center. I tried looking to see which way it pointed but it had been fused into a large lump of rust. There were signs that a person had been staying here- a wooden chair pulled up to table and a pack of cards. Wherever Araches had got those was a mystery. However, she wasn't around to ask- the room was totally devoid of any inhabitants, Araches or otherwise. In addition to the way I came, there was an exit east, but it was filled up with rubble. There was also an exit south, bathed in shadows like the rest of the place.

While looking around for doors, I saw a notice hanging on the west wall. It said "This underground maze has been found in violation of dungeon-building code 2-A and is scheduled for demolition on". Rather annoyingly, it was torn and unreadable after that.

I stumbled east then south in totaly darkness, tripping a bunch more and just barely resisting the temptation to catch myself with my hands. However, trying to go west I ran into a wall. Wait, a wall? It wasn't there the last time I was in here.

Yes. D=

What's the wall made of?

Risp_old
Jul 1, 2005, 02:18 PM
Yeah. Want to play the battle again? I have the proper files for it.
/sarcasm

At the time, I thought I was going insane. Trying to throw rocks into pits that were in different rooms. Now, looking back, I know for sure I was going insane.

I examined the wall. It was, at a glance (not that I could glance at it) the exact same rusting metal as all the walls here. However, upon further examination it was quite a bit newer and most the rust was fake.

Risp_old
Jul 1, 2005, 02:25 PM
I took out my katana and... what was I thinking? I put it away. I wouldn't be strong enough even at peak conditions to cut a wall in half with my katana wielded in one hand.

Ae

Make another attempt to pour some of the alcohol onto the fake rust.

Lem_Gambino

Then hold the Katana with both hands and strike the wall.

Risp_old
Jul 1, 2005, 02:29 PM
Oh, didn't see that part. Still, what would that accomplish? We would have less rubbing alcohol. That's it.

What, you want to punish Shuri further by having her wield a sword in a hand full of glass shards?

Ae
Jul 1, 2005, 02:30 PM
Well, with fake rust I figured the whole part of the wall might be fake, and we could weaken it.

Lem_Gambino
Jul 1, 2005, 02:31 PM
Pick out the shards and use the First Aid Kit to patch up the wounds.

Risp_old
Jul 1, 2005, 02:32 PM
Nice try, but no. The wall is real metal; the rust is fake in that it was added artifically rather then in that it was plastic or something.

I decided that having a hand full of glass was rather dangerous to my health, and thus I made good use of my first-aid kit to patch it up. Finally something I learned in Ninja School coming in handy!

I gripped my katana in both hands and swung it at the door with all my might. As I did, everything seemed to suddenly go into needless slow-motion. The katana swam through the normally dormant air with a loud whistle above the faint whoosing noises obligatory to cool slow-mo. It hit the wall with a might clang, letting loose a few sparks and rivets as the tought metal bend backwards. My arms vibrated with the sound, and for a moment I thought I was about to die because I realized that everything going slow while your death unstoppably comes to you is a very dramatic and classy way to go. Then everything went normal and I dazedly felt the now very dented and somewhat cut wall.

A first aid kit won't help against something as banal as a "hurty foot". And throwing rocks against a metallic surface is generally more effective than using your bare foot. Shuri isn't even wearing shoes, I think.

I found another rock (the prettiest-feeling rock I could find, not that that means anything) and pocketed it. I carefully examined the wall for weak spots and found that the most fragile point was where I had bent and bruised it with my katana, unsurprisingly.

Try to recall whether there had been any places in this dungeon where something was written anywhere. If there aren't any, go south and examine the air vent to the east. To check whether it's readily accessible or not.

Risp_old
Jul 4, 2005, 07:07 AM
I tried to think if I had seen any other writing, but I couldn't remember anything. I went south and after a few minutes of searching found the air vent. Examining it, I found that it would be just large enough for a me to fit through, if I would be so reckless as to do so.

As I climbed down from the air vent, my foot landed on a plaque on the floor.

Pray to the powers of the great DM Risp not to let something really evil happen in said air vent that would require us to restart from the last save point. Don't mind the weird thought and wonder who that "Risp" is, since now that you're all alone in a dark hole underneath the earth, you might as well listen to the voices for some company. Crawl through the air vent.

Sigh and use NINJA SKILLS to meditate and get a clear head.
Read what it says on the plaque you pulled off the wall you tried to demolish. Examine it thoroughly, especially for possible ways of restoring the unreadable text.
Also, try to remember what time of day it was when you entered the maze and how much time has passed since then, or, more specifically, what time it is now. Although that might be hard to remember, having fallen unconscious a lot and stuff.

Risp_old
Jul 4, 2005, 07:31 AM
I tried to clear my mind and meditate, but found all the junk in it was too much and just metaphorically brushed it under the carpet.
I tried to read the notice but there wasn't enough light for it.
I could not remember what time of day it was.

Fawriel
Jul 4, 2005, 07:33 AM
For the record, remember that it said "This underground maze has been found in violation of dungeon-building code 2-A and is scheduled for demolition on".
Go try to examine that plaque you stepped on and read it. Wonder why you failed to remember doing so and blame it on the voices.

Risp_old
Jul 4, 2005, 07:36 AM
I was unable to read the plaque and futilely poked at it for a while until I noticed it had an inscription underneath the words in Braille. Though my skills in reading it were out of date, after a few minutes I managed to decode it. It said 'Save Point'.

I stepped forward and climbed up onto the vent. As I did so I noticed the plaque seemed not to be there under my feet anymore. Odd.
I crawled through the vent, feeling slightly panicked for no good reason. Was it a sudden case of claustrophobia? Was it the stuff air here? Was it my sore arm? ...wait, sore arm? I checked my left arm and found a small puncture mark there. I began to feel my panic was well founded, my body beginnig to twitch and spasm. As poison rushed through my dying body I...

...suddently snapped back into reality. I was standing mid-climb, over where the save point had once been (or had I imagined that?), left with only disjointed memories of the last few moments and a strange feeling of panic...

...and I snapped back to reality. I was standing next to the vent, feeling very jittery and very much in need of rest. No chance of getting one down here, though.

I agree. The poison is obviously in the air, so that will let you breath and the poison won't get through. Your head will also stay clear.
