National Tourney... ?

(Tourney starts from post 471!)

I once had this beautifully insane idea of making a cup that'd annually take place, where teams of 3 or 4 from all participating countries would play ctf (and TB and possibly something else) and compete first in a traditional scoring table where each team'd play a certain amount of times against every other team etc...

After those games have finished, the (8) best teams would randomly be made into four games, which would be the quarter finals, winners advancing to semi finals and winners of that to the finals...

Also teams that won't (with or without reason) be able to play matches would be eliminated by rules and so on...

Levels would likely be chosen by votings, nominations or simply picked by teams in some planned manner...

Please answer in the poll what do you think of this idea...

Hey do you think the teams should be made so that "the best" of some country are one team, and the second best are the second team, OR balance the teams so that a few good players there and a few there.

But then I think we should also inform the U.S.A pro's about this. Couse they have to play to make this tourney interesting. Netherlands could play with QZ, DS, Chiyu or something. Egypt could play too with Rock iT and the other pro's.

If Emperor want's to play himself or if he "kicks" me out of the team because he wants to play, Finland team number 2 could come and play too:P But anyway Emperor you are not in TOP 5 Finnish CTF jj2 players.

Btw. I am willing to organize the tourney. In case we don't get the 8 teams. (Which I think we don't) We should make a different tournament type. A CTF game till 10 (two rounds, each to 5 points) and all countries face all countries. The team with the most scores made wins.

I totally agree with Wallace on this part. Sucer should not act this way.

And I think nobody else will sign-up for the Netherlands. So it would be Ani, Chiyu, DS (and me as back-up maybe?) CelL isn't active. I wouldn't count on him. Quickz isn't active anymore either.
If any other Dutch player still wants to sign-up (who is good enough ;p) feel free to take my place.
If anyone of the Dutchies does not agree on it, feel free to say so .

Why must people be so fastidious about some minor changes to the tourney, that they have to count themselves out, if they weren't exactly fitting for them. In this community we're already so few, that it will be hard to have any tournament with "strict" people.

Do 4vs4 lag more than a 3vs3? This could JazzBusters have solved out if anything. I think it's more like people imagining their lag with two more players, since I didn't, to be honest, find any difference in lag with a 4vs4 and a 3vs3 (that were played in a row somewhat.)

Still 3vs3 could go rather as an easier one, yet the team-roster could be 4 players(one as back-up, in case one another doesn't show up of course.)

I was anyway quite disappointed on our team-organisation. Should I retire because of something like this too? Well, at the moment I'm not going to.

Well, I think that was a good rule which Wallace pointed out. In case for example I can't play, ChasLord can replace me. That just makes it more likely that the game will be played and it's easier to find a date which fits both teams. If For example Israel has only three players. Then they can only play on 5.1 when me and Emperor can't. Then ChaosLord can come and play with Snooze ans SJ so the game can be played afterall. (Btw. This also counts as modifying the team as me and Emp could fake a reason not to be able to play:P)

For the mappool I vote than each country picks two levels which Wallace will check to be cool and if Wallace accepts those levels, they will be added into the mappool. When a country playes againts another one, both will pick one level, so there will be two rounds.

You've mentioned Sweden first, as if it's ever had more than one, maybe two players, and then you're comparing it to Poland and Israel, where JJ2 is a lot more popular than in Finland and even The Netherlands (can be proven (http://www.google.com/trends?q=jazz+jackrabbit&ctab=1&sa=N) by Google Trends), and could even form a decent 5 player team.
