You should be unchecking it in case of short posts, really.

No it doesn't. The 512 character limit doesn't ignore HTML.

Can anything be done about that? Could the limits be extended overall? The image size limits seem reasonable but even 1024 characters is quite a tight limitation if one wants to do something cool with HTML.

I think signatures are big enough as they are, I don't feel like making it possible to make them larger/more elaborate would really be an improvement.

As for Xmas JJ2 being short, budget most likely.
