A few early suggestions:

- Seattle, Washington
- Vancouver, British Columbia
- Portland, Oregon

Any other early nominees?

Southern Californa. I don't find the northwest as interesting.

Washington is also on the east coast of North America.

My vote goes to Seattle, WA. I know the area fairly well, and I have a cousin who lives there and knows lots of good geeky stuff to do.

I would be in favour of Seattle or Vancouver, not sure which I would want more yet. I obviously know Vancouver very well as does Mike so we could easily plan it if it was selected. As for Seattle I was there recently with BN, and I'm sure Trafton knows the area fairly well.

How do you figure that? That would simply put you equally far away from everywhere.

The people suggesting "California" need to be a bit more specific, seeing as how California has a ton of different significant cities. From San Francisco to San Diego, to the absolutely crap inland valley region. Of all of the options I would endorse either San Diego or Santa Barbara County. But seriously, I'd vastly prefer something in the northwest. We did CA for WC2004 already, after all.

Seattle and Vancouver both sound good. I'll also suggest Banff, Alberta, which might be more difficult but very worthwhile. Banff is a sort of mountain resort town, with lots of shopping and touristy things but also mountain activities like hiking, hot springs, and whitewater rafting.

It's less likely that I could make it to WC06 if it was in California... so I vote for Seattle. They've got the Space Needle, the IMAX theater (which always has good movies), the University district has some awesome places.... And I'm sure we could find more stuff to do. We could even do a day trip to the islands where I live (kidding)!

Oh yeah, we COULD take the duck tours... ;] (Amphibious vehicles that ride around Seattle and give you a bit of history as well as provide you with quackers.)

Anyways, I wouldn't mind California, or Vancouver either. California would be more work, but I've only been there a few times, so it would be a bit of an adventure.

If we do go for Cali, I would rather stay away from L.A. as much as possible.

I personally vote Seattle because we've already done California.

By southern California, I basically ment anywhere along the coast, so we could go to the beach should we choose to. I don't really care where along there we stay.

Seattle isn't really ordinary, it's kind of a freak show. ;p

I think I am leaning most towards Seattle at the moment. They have the Space Noodle, the Sci-Fi Museum (which is rux), and many other things. We could probably spend 2 whole days just wandering around Seattle Center.

Seattle. Heh... And Gem, the percent chance of me going to a Seattle meet would be like 89%. The percent chance of going to California would be like ... 18%.

Seattle has lots of stuff. You can watch them throw fish in the market. YaY. You can .......... Go see the seals .... You can spit off the needle... You can hang out with Bder ..... ++Seattle... Hehe :oDD

I should mention that if it's in WA, I'd be able to do a lot of planning and etc, and I'm sure Trafton would be able to as well. My parents both know the Seattle area very well, and I have an aunt who lives there, so I'm somewhat familiar with most of the cool things to do in Seattle.

So I definitely vote for Seattle. ;p

This may be a bit early, but if anyone is thinking about activites yet it's a suggestion. The activities don't necessarily have to be major attractions of the chosen city (presumably Seattle). It's generally more fun to go to things that are just enjoyable and allow socializing, such as the LAN party and Playdium at EC2005. Laser tag and bowling are two activities that are usually very successful and enjoyable. People who live in Seattle or know it well should suggest places that they would go themselves with their friends.

Southern CA didn't seem to interest me much. It pretty much all looked the same to me when I was out there. It was all a combination of traffic, brown buildings, and once you got out of the cities, sand and low brush. Not very appealing, really.

Plus it's a bit weird how everyone seems to speak spanglish. Even the TSA agents who check your luggage at the airport. It doesn't give me a good feeling when I'm asked by the baggage checkers at the airport (LAX in this case) if I have a gun in my luggage and I don't even understand what they are talking to me about. (answer wrong, and you might not make it home....)

I think that the more northern the location, the better.

Concidering you basically went from the center of LA, straight out to Las Vegas, I'm not too surprised that that was the impression you got. ;P The interesting parts are more along the coast, or in the mountains.
