Marked As Read
One of my biggest peeves with this board is how it marks threads and forum if a certain amount of time has passed after your last action.
Let me give you an example of how this bugs me: I generally check the board each evening, so one evening I come on, check the board, and leave. Then say sometime the next day someone in #jj2 links to a thread or something here on the JCF. I click to check on it, maybe make a post, but don't go through the rest of the board at that time. Then later that evening when I go to read through the board, most of the threads/posts I haven't read yet are marked as read. This similarly happens when I just want to look up a single thread, a user profile, or even if I just take a long time to write up a post. The reason this is all so annoying is because I can no longer see which threads have new posts in them, or make use of the wonderful "Go to first unread post" feature. What I would like is if posts and threads did not get marked as read until I either went through that thread, or I used the "Mark forum as read" button. If people still want posts to be automatically marked as read, please at least set the time limit to something higher, like a few hours. Or make it a user preference if you can. (If there's already a preference, forgive me, I haven't found it, please tell me where it is.) Thanks.

I've complained about this before too. However, the cookie timeout (and thus the time before everything is marked read) is the same as the Who's Online timeout. If the timeout were increased to something much larger (like 2 hours or 2 days) it would keep everyone in the Who's Online long past the time they were last actually online.

I don't care about the who's online thing. :P
Might there be a way to mod the board to make this work?
