Question Lan Questions

In 2003, JJ2 was forced offline because we hooked the lan up and started our home network.

Last month, I was able to get back online because I tinkered with the LAN settings.

Before you run off screaming "This has been explained!!!" Let me tell you:

JJ2 requires MORE then ports 10052 to 10054 to run. It was suggested to me in a LAN forum (Don't remember the name) to try entering 1-25000 (Opening ALL ports) into the lan, and to see if that worked. I did not try that until last month. It worked

But it is too big a security risk. The settings I am running it on are 100-10054. But that still means 9,954 ports are open to HaXor attacks.

The computer has Zone Alarm, so I am not too concerned, But I would like to minimize the port usage. Does anyone know what extra ports they are?

The Lan is a 3Com 3c510 eithernet gateway.

10052-10058.

Thats it.. if you still got problems, then realize there is a list server view problem now but its up though. Either that all OR your internet sucks or ur pc really sucks.

Wink

hey,

I tried what you suggested, but it did not work. After a little trial and error, I figured out that ports 1757 and in the 3000 to 3250 range are also used.

I just entered 1757-3250,10050-10058

I feel this is a lot better then 1000-10060 (My previous setting), But I would like to cut the port useage a bit more.

Because port 10052 is all thats needed on 98% of routers out there, and as far as I know the only port used for ingame data between clients.

Well, you could always turn of DHTP and manually input your IP and stuff into the Internet Connection properties.
