Regarding 3 Jazz Issues
Hello. As title says, let's begin...
1) Regarding JJ2 and JJ2 Shareware Edition. What are the differences between them? (I Know JJ2 originally has 4 episodes. What about the Shareware version? I've heard the Shareware edition has even more episodes! is that true?). I currently have JJ2 in its 4-episode form, is it the full, retail version? If relying on JJ1, Shareware edition had only 1 episode while the retail had 9. 2) What are the original folder names (=main/installation dictionary) of: "Jazz Jackrabbit Christmas Edition" AND "Jazz Jackrabbit Holiday Hare 95"? For example, JJ1 original folder name was "jazzfull", and JJ2 was "jazz2". 3) I can't achieve normal sound on JJ1. It sounds slow, horribly echoed and stuttered ![]() THANKS A TON IN ADVANCE! ![]() Regards, h.r. |

1) You have the retail version, but it has five episodes, not four. The shareware version has one. And the difference between them is that the full version has a level editor, 5 episodes, and costs money, whereas the shareware version has 1 episode and that's pretty much it. Oh, and I'm pretty sure Spaz is only available in the retail version.
2) I don't know, I never bought those. 3) J00 NEEDS TEH NEW SOUNDCARD =O |

Thanks everyone, highly informative. However, I still don't get the version mess.
Regarding JJ1: I currently have the version which consists of nine levels, PLUS - a level called "Holiday Hare" and additional bonus levels. When exiting, a screen pops up saying "THIS IS NOT A SHAREWARE! DO NOT DISTRIBUTE!" And beneath there's a line saying "Jazz Jackrabbit Commercial Version". So, what version do I have? Another thing I don't get is the Holiday Hare episode. There's a spin-off called "Holiday Hare 95" and there's that episode built-in the game. Why? Regarding JJ2: I can play 4 episodes, with Jazz or Spaz. I can play MP (Party-Mode) either, but I couldn't find a level editor (=JCS) anywhere in the dictionary. What version is it? On a side note... My Sound-card is relatively new, especially considering it's a years old DOS game. Couldn't get it to work with DOSBox though, do I need it on a CD or something? Thanks in advance! |

DOSBox can stutter badly if your PC isn't very good. Emulating a game takes a lot more power than normally running it. Try using Ctrl+F11 and Ctrl+F12 to change the amount of cycles DOSBox uses. For me, that fixes the stuttering, but makes loading levels a bit slower.

Anyways, I'm on a PC. Number is 1.20 "Full Version". And I did download it, but I have the legal rights to it because I once purchased the game. Thx. |

Ouch, such downloads are often incomplete for some reason, often lacking JCS. Normally you can find it in the root directory of Jazz2, same one as the most of the files. At least you bought the game once, so you shouldn't be in trouble for downloading it.
