How do I convert MP3 to usable JCS music format?

I want to convert MP3 files into a usable JCS music format such as .MOD
I know I need to use Modplug Tracker but I dunno how to use it. Can someone tell me how to do this? Thanks.

You could convert them to .wav, then import them in Modplug Tracker and save it as the desired filetype. This progress, however, multiplies the filesize in ways that JJ2 can't handle. Sorry, you're going to have to use pre-made .mod, .it, .xm or .s3m files (or make them yourself, if you can) and put those in the music box in JCS (including the extention, unlike the standard music).

Good luck.

Edit: Isn't this covered in the FAQ?

Mod files are made from lots of tiny sounds (like a drum hit or trumpet blow) arranged to be played at different times, like sheet music. This makes the files very small. MP3 files are just one, long sound (featuring the whole song). So, if you convert a MP3 to a Mod, it's technically like one note being played on an instrument that makes a sound like the desired song. So, it's a pretty big file, and JJ2 can't handle that usually.

Your best bet might be to hunt out a midi version of the desired song and convert THAT to a Mod.

You know Rad, these discussions were more fun when you added pictures to your posts to accentuate your textblock.

You know, I was going to post a link to my old explanation with the lego castles, but half the images were broken. Later I'll have to fix them.
