It just doesn't work

I have the Windows media player file of the cw DM vs. FoR but I can't play it! I perhaps require a codec or something, but my computer is too noob to find such a thing. Any tips what might be wrong and how can I fix it?

I really really wanna see the cw.

Yeah, you need a codec. Search for one for its filetype.

The GpW vs TF record apparently requires XviD, so you should try that one first.

Get hold of the GSpot Codec Information Utility from http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ and open the file with that. It'll tell you what the file is and what codecs you need to make it work.

Maybe you should download the k-lite codec pack (google for it). if you have this, you will never need a codec again

Bad idea, codec packs tend to have all sorts of problems. Conflicting codecs, incompatible codecs, illegal codecs, etc.

Nonsense. The K-Lite codec pack is pretty useful (and popular) and contains a lot of the most popular codecs, so probably just installing that will probably make itpossible to play the video.

I installed K-Lite on many different machines and it is very stable - I never had problems. Are you living in the past? ^^

No, I merely decided not to install a codec pack that contains lots of unneeded and potentially buggy junk. How many MPEG-1 decoders do you need anyway? Let's see, according to http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm for the full pack there's four MPEG1/2 decoders, three AC3, two AAC, two MP3, and more demuxers than you can shake a stick at. Oh, and last I knew the 3ivx AAC decoder is not free, and I doubt they've got permission from Cyberlink and InterVideo to distribute their codecs. There's a fair chance the Fraunhofer MP3 codec included is the hacked one as well.

I didnt install the codecs i dont need anyway. Ya know, K-lite is a VERY good and high-quality codec pack which lets you select all the codecs you need. and no codec is buggy, it is well coded
