I think there should be something on the board that lets you know how much posts the user has.

I think most of us think that. I know I do. The problem is, the admins think it encourages spamming. Same goes with having custom titles.
I have been members of dozens of message boards though, and I really don't think post counts encourage spamming one bit. |

Yes, as long as we don't abuse the counter. And the counter should be located on the bottom of your FROM or if you don't have a FROM then at the bottom of your JOINED. And it should say:
Posts: xxx x=The Number of posts the user has. _________________ PidgeotPK |

Nope, nope nope. No post counter. It encourages too much spamming.

This was one of the original things we wanted to get rid of since the JMMB went down. You can read that in some way old topics.

We dropped post counters because we saw people spamming to get higher postcounts. We will not make post counters again.
Stiletto: If you think this board is boring because of the lack of postcounters I am afraid I can't help you. I doubt postcounters will make it a more enjoyable experience anyways. |

er...... well... i have to agree with them... it does encourage spamming... BUT only a little, cept for the stupid people who just spam all of a sudden.. BUT... u have the posting interval limit, right? it's not like he's gonna press post, back, post, back, post, back every second. So, really... it can't generate too much spam. Ok... there is spam for claiming pages, but do u say no claiming pages? eh... no. how about Word Association? isn't that kinda considered spamming? really, Post Counters wouldn't cause much more trouble... plus to the fact that there is less people here than on the JMMB(active people, that is).
How about a deal? How about... u implement Post Counters for... 1 month. if there is SEVERE spamming after this(not a little, but SEVERE), then u may take them away, and now u can say we tried it and it just causes too much trouble, thus, giving u more stuff to back ur words than the JMMB. If we pass this expermient, u implement them. If it ever gets out of control, just post in the misc section giving everyone a warning to stop spamming. I believe this would solve any problems with spamming w/ counter. Please consider this proposal. |

Beauman: I don't mean spamming as in repeatedly clicking the submit button(no flood check btw..) but as in posting junk to as many postings possible to make your post count higher. We have experimented with this at the start of the jcf and even with only 10 people it generated spamming..
I leave it up to other admins to say yes or no about your deal, if it was my decision I'd say no. |

oh, that spamming? only the begining though... cause see... it's different now (or how i see it). when someone JUST gets on the a message board, they feel a NEED to get more posts. and they figured it was ok cause hardly anyone was here. but most (repeat, MOST) people here are kinda settled in... so... i think it's kinda different than before. plus i don't think there will be many new members

There seems to be about one every two days or so. (Either that, or the days are starting to run together)

Imo, it does encourage spamming. Some people. Let's call them iCeD's (Heh I just made that up, nice eh?) or Spammers or Post eaters or whatever name you like.
I remember the JMMB having tons of posts I HAAAvEEE 1000OOO0! pOSTA'S threads. Some people were really spamming the board because they had nothing else to do. Some people just replied to every topic that had a new replies mark. Not that terrible. But it gets when people start to visit the board eight times a day. And IMO, I do think the post counter takes away 'some' spamming. |

I know it does encourage spamming, having done it myself when I first was at the jmmb. ;p
Not as bad as others, but I did reply to much more topics, not necesarrily useful replies, most of the time they were useful, but oh well. I had most posts of all on the jmmb, y'know. Now wild angel has the most. ;p |
