2on2IT 'Advancing through the tournament'- debate

Okay, a new topic since some people 'complained' about how teams will progress through the tournament.

I apparenlty had some weak moment when I made the brackets, since 5 is quite an unhandy amount to go any further. I know this tournament was supposed to have two rounds, but also that is kinda tricky. So now this proposal: (Btw, yes, I know it sucks to change an active tourney, but the current situation also sucks ;o) I do another draw, make 4 Brackets with 5 teams in it and the 3 best teams will qualify for the K.O.-stage. Each bracket-winner will have a bye in the 1st round of the K.O.-stage, all other spots are random. I think this is a great solution for most teams, since their chances to advance will get bigger. Also it's more clear which teams will advance and which won't. A disadvantage is the fact that each team should play another match, so 4 in total. Please, share your thoughts here with the other participants..

i still prefer my suggestion too (!) (thx for the support rep (!)) but this is better than the original idea of a second qualifying round or whatever.

Okay, the brackets are on the site now.

People seem to be happy with the brackets, as well with the fact that 3 teams in each bracket will qualify. And yes, a bye is a free passage to the next round, so the numbers 2 and 3 start the knockout-stage in the 1/8 finals, while the numbers 1 have to play their first match in the quarters.

So that means all the games played so far are now invalid, right? Since those teams being separated into other brackets.

I do agree it's the best this way, the first match felt much more like warm-up to me. I believe other teams, especially Sdgs are satisfied with this solution as well.

I am just wondering, will there be a double-elimination system in K.O. stage or not? Y'know...the Winners Bracket and Losers Bracket etc. ;P I'm all for it, if you happen to ask me ;d

Look at the DIT tournament tree, and you see why it might not be a good idea.
