I have the same problem 8(. Lately, I can't even work on a lvl by Stijn and me because JCS keeps overheating my CPU 8[ (only in some tilesets, though)

On XP you can open up the task manager and set both processes to low priority.
This way other applications will have more air to breathe.

It does "take up" 100% CPU usage for me, but I find no problem having other programs like Firefox and JCS open while I have JJ2 running. (I use Windows XP, as well ;

Reducing the priority won't reduce your overall CPU usage, just merely give preference to other programs. If nothing else is using the CPU then JJ2/JCS will still take all of it.

other programs works fine when JCS is on, so is JCS. But it has this weird high-extreamly-annoying sound whenever the window is on the screen. I hate it.

@mo93: Quite easily. Windows will split a multithreaded program across multiple cores.
@IconGuy: That'll be the fault of your monitor. You'll probably find that if you take a screenshot of JCS and display that it still whines. |

Hmmm.... no. Just tried that and nothing.

You are probably hearing your CPU Fan working at a higher rate. There's a program called SpeedFan that can control your fans. Setting all fans to 0% gives nice silence (though it also gives nice fire).

No problems here on my E6750. But showing animated tiles in JCS makes my Nvidia 8800GT squeal. :P

For JJ2 if you minimize the game it will stop eating up your CPU. You can't do this when hosting, and when playing online you will CTO. But if you're finding that it is slowing down your computer (such as by making programs take forever to load or do anything), then this will help. There are also hacks which allow you to minimize while hosting and not have any problems, but I do not know where to get them any more.
As for JCS, it's not THAT bad of a resource hog. If it's showing 100% cpu use, it's because there is nothing else running besides JCS that needs the CPU. If you have a computer that has cooling problems or a laptop with a weak battery this might be a problem, but otherwise it shouldn't bother you. Just close JCS when you aren't using it. Also, you might want to try zooming in to 100% when leaving it idle. The zoom level is basically the #1 factor that determines how many resources JCS is using. At 12.5% zoom you will notice a much more significant slowdown than you will at 100%. I believe minimizing might also help with JCS, but I'm not totally sure on that. |

Doesn't the JCS only use 32%?
I could be wrong, it's not like I check my task manager daily.
